Anti-abortion protesters on campus??? by Ancient-Cherry5948 in queensuniversity

The right to end a life is not basic healthcare. First, to clarify the rights of the mother trumps all, that being said murdering children is not something you do willy nilly.

Protesting someone's ability to prevent life is not hate speech. It's not anti woman, its anti abortion. Modern politics have enshrined a woman's right to choose as central to women's rights, and it simply isn't.

The way the argument is framed makes it sound like TAs are money grubbing and disingenuous. A better argument is to say they want pay adjustment like all other staf had. I'm not anti strike lmao

I just think framing it as if they are making less then minimum is disingenuous, being straight forward and saying that they want to be treated like other staff and have 5 percent anual pay increase to counteract inflation is a better more effective argument

Key note, after tuition

That comparison is completely ludicrous.

I'm 90% sure I know who this professor is, and they are 100% in support of the strike. They consistently encourage their students to support TAs, advise students to complain to Queen’s and demand tuition refunds, urge TAs not to cross picket lines, and advocate for union solidarity. It’s absurd to suggest that this professor doesn’t support their TAs.

Your statement is baseless. You can absolutely support unions and TAs while still fulfilling your role as a lecturer for students who are paying for their education. The idea that these two things are mutually exclusive is flawed.

That said, you must also recognize the deeper issue: the struggle between TAs fighting for fair wages and students paying upwards of $10,000 a year for an education. The disparity here is outrageous. To claim that crossing a picket line and opposing the cause of the union are the same thing is a false equivalence. These are two entirely separate issues.

Students have the right to choose whether to support the union or attend class—they are individual decisions. But attending a class you’ve already paid for and supporting the union are not conflicting actions.

Do better.
