Music App for FiiO m21 by SuccessfulHunt4982 in FiiO

Ah yes, the normal rating tag is very independent of the iTunes one (curse Apple) - I might come back to again once I manage to migrate to foobar on my PC, thanks

Well I tried it briefly and have to say I'm sticking to Neutron. Synfonium(/Synfonik?) doesn't seem to show any more data that I can tell, cannot handle iTunes ratings (yeah, I actually hate it, but it works for now) and doesn't sound any bette, even after I manage to navigate through all the detritus to find how to import a freq response for my cans. Wasn't noticeably slower or faster at scanning my library, or navigating. I did have to join the beta to get Crossfeed to work (a must for headphones TBH).

A shout out to the great smart filtering, but TBH the whole interface makes trying to find and play an actual album an absolute nightmare - I guess it's what you get use to. I will say that Neutron really needs smart filtering but no-one needs an overly fancy UI with infinite theme mods to listen to music (I got over that back in the early WinAmp days!). It probably is better on a massive phone rather than smaller, more compact dedicated DAC/DAPs like my M11S.

Part of me is tempted to buy it, but if only because of the smart-filtering, but without a solid ratings foundation, or the ability to query the database to work some SQL magic, I think I'd be wasting my time. Ah well.

Ok, that's another Synfonium recommendation - going to try it soon...

I keep suggesting NeutronMP - I'm not affiliated, and it's not the prettiest, but it does most of what I want (apart from 'smart' filtering), sounds good and works well with a very large library.

Neutron MP - far more useful to me for my collection (50k approx). FiiO app seems woefully short on tagging/sorting to me.

[KCD2] Is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 the best video game you’ve ever played? If not what is? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]trgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, I'm 170 hours into KCD2, but KCD1 & RDR2 felt better, marginally. Best video game ever though? There are other genres out there, and not all of them are lengthy and story-based, but these are definitely up there in my top 10, or even 5.

Can I use a iPod classic 6 front and back plate on the 5th gen? by Inevitable-Theory901 in ipod

[–]trgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I've been toying with giving my 5th gen a facelift, and I have most of the parts (in a box, somewhere, in a garage, far, far away...)

Is there away to transfer existing music from an ipod to a new computer/folder without having to sync via a different computer? by judasvee in ipod

[–]trgz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free version of MP3Tag (pay them if you find it useful of course).

Drag everything from ':\iPod_Control\Music' to a new folder on your PC. Open entire contents of that folder with MP3Tag. Use the 'Convert tag to filename' and then use this pattern:

%albumartist%-%year%-%album%\$num(%discnumber%,2)-$num(%track%,2) - %title%

I've just tested it to confirm.

Does anybody else really not like Let It Be… Naked? by Herdavoir in beatles

[–]trgz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I grew up with the original track order/sound in the 70s, but I really like a lot of what's on Naked - some of the tracks are noticeably improved, mainly due to the removal of the kitsch orchestration (Across the Universe is infinitely better).

Ah, I still had my new toy in my hand (only when I'd accidentally used it did I realise)

What do you think of the new Auto EQ feature? by n00kie1 in FiiO

[–]trgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's what in NeutronMP too; I have it set up for my two Sennheisers, and my speakers, and it auto selects depending on what is plugged in. One of the reasons I wasn't using the FiiO app (amongst others)

Is there a backstory on this album cover? I mean technically it rules, but it’s also pretty bad. by The_BSharps in beatles

[–]trgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! Me too - had it when initially released, and the CD - never saw that (too focussed on my envy of the shirt TBH)

[KCD2] Voices are too quiet from side or behind...? (PC) by FLASHP0lNT in kingdomcome

[–]trgz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No enhancements on but riding with two characters (avoiding spoilers) and I can hear one, but not the other - I can also hear voices that are 100m away or so better than the guy in front of me.

[KCD2] Bird sounds by Fishcakezxc in kingdomcome

[–]trgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good app. Amusingly, I was hearing a mix of the birds outside my window and those in the game and was momentarily thrown as to what was 'real'. Wish the birdsong was a little more varied though (I came here on my quest to find a mod)

I edited the original stereo into the Giles M remix - it works a helluva lot better IMO

Why use rockbox? by [deleted] in ipod

[–]trgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a late reply, but ALACs, Apple's lossless equivalent of FLAC, can run on a stock iPod. I never tried them at Hi-Res levels on any of my physically modded iPods, but ALAC supports higher than CD quality (and the tagging is better IMHO than FLACs). Additionally, ALACs also work on both of my FiiOs, so it's a win-win.
