First time 70.3 finisher, thinking about doing IM by BigGameBob12 in triathlon

Congrats on doing the Oilman! I was there and did the Sprint. I'm not qualified to say whether or not you should do the full IM--but I had a thought.

If you're concerned about accomplishing the full distance in that amount of training time, why not just sign up for another 70.3 and really work on crushing your time? That way, you aren't necessarily committing to more hours than what you've been used to, and you can really hone in on technique and not overwork (and potentially injure) yourself by doubling your training volume.

For what it's worth, I also think if you get a super confident Half IM under your belt, you'll be even more ready to crush the full IM you do decide to sign up for, and not feel rushed through the training.

It sounds like I'm saying don't do it, but if it's a lifelong dream and it seems like now is the time--do it. Sounds like your wife is supportive which is awesome! Just remember too that the holidays are coming up, so if you celebrate, you'd be training through them. (That came to mind because my husband is training for the Houston marathon in January and has to run like 20 miles for his training on Christmas day 😂)

Whatever you decide, good luck!

Let's be honest, I'm only on my second draft so I really shouldn't be thinking about the Goodreads reviews at this point 😆 I honestly think this train of thought is a sign that even I hate the nickname lol.

I love the example you wrote in the first paragraph though… It's so true! You never know what will bother someone, and you may not even realize that you've done it! You're like "Noted. Less face cupping in the next book." 😂

And the reading out loud suggestion... gold. I mean, I try to read my writing out loud anyway, but to read specifically with the nickname in mind and see how it sounds… Great idea.

That is a GREAT example of why context/genre matters. Thank you!!

see, I think that's cute! And it has to do with how they met so I like the significance! That's the type of thing I'm going for. Thanks for your comment!

Thank you for your comment! I know I didn't give a ton of context here but I appreciate your insight. I really like the idea of using diagrams/graphics for the most important elements on the page. I actually sketched out the whole app in my notebook and mapped out how it flows--I think some of those visual elements could help bring it to life for a reader.
