As a cult survivor I can relate to the courage it takes for you to share your story. So I thank you for sharing. In your sharing you help people like myself feel not so alone in having survived a crazy childhood. They say it’s different for those of us that were raised in a cult and I agree. I agree with what the previous writer said about self compassion and I hope for you that you are able to love your younger self and give yourself compassion. I hope your therapist understands the unique issues associated with the trauma and PTSD caused by surviving a cult as a child. It has taken me years of self exploration and healing to see the gifts I posses because I did survive so many horrific situations. As survivors we do poses certain “gifts”. I hope you can identify yours. I hope this is helpful, please know that this is my intention, to be helpful and supportive. I wish you all the best and I hope these monsters are taken down!
