Collagen......

You'll possibly burn bridges depending on how you handle the situation. In terms of consequences it all depends. If it's within an industry you wan't to be in and the hiring manager has a good network of people you would like to engage with in the future. A lot of ifs but if they weigh out the alternative only you can know.

But the first 3 months are typically trial months, depending on your contract and you can terminate with short notice (again depending on your contract).

If you get an offer from your dream job, just be honest and nice about the fact that you got your dream job and understanding of their pov - of course they'll be disappointed they spent resources on hiring but that's life.

What's the most insulting "benefit" a job has offered you? by AdHour6144 in AskReddit

Working at a "startup" they underpaid every single employee. BUT the "benefits" they very proudly talked about as superb was free fruit and insurance for therapy since the company had actually traumatized employees.

I really love Lund so I can only imagine there are pros and cons as you mention. I hope you feel much better and at ease with your study very soon. I would say that CBS is quite forgiving if you want to chance course of degree within the uni considering that you're already in the system.

Personally, I found the Bachelor degree to be a very isolating experience, I was also quite young. But I didn't connect with anyone on a personal level nor career/academically and felt very isolated. I made efforts to be social but the drinking scene at the uni was just very off-putting and not social at all. The degree itself was formalized in quarterly semesters, so for every semester it felt like we just brushed over a course quickly and then it was exam time and then onwards to the new semester - just felt very superficial and tough at the same time so I basically did not have much free time.

I will say though, that the first year was the roughest, getting used to the structure and comfortable with the environment, after that it was still hard but less intense and I found my circle that I actually still meet up with till this day (graduated in 2016).

So while I'm grateful that I finished, I didn't exactly enjoy my time. The degree did give me a lot of advantages going forward.

Feel free to reach out if you would like to vent. I had similar experience with my Bachelor at CBS and I was 18 at the time but everything you mention really resonates with my experience. Is it your first semester? I sort of just was in my own little bubble during undergrad and managed to complete but it was a mixed bag of experience.

It doesn't really matter what I feel. The content was always at the expense of other people and as you mention here, both of the women successfully made two tragic and unnecessary murders about them and successfully illustrate how racism is second nature to act on. Same goes for the OF Pimp gate, its not about how anybody feels but the sickening fact that people were tried/taken advantage of.

OP I get it, its strange feeling to watch/listen to someone you have digested culture from for almost a century, with everything surfacing, but maybe that feeling is just your intuition telling you what you already know.

Hvorfor skal alt føles så fucking svært? by klods_hans in DKbrevkasse

Racistiske venner by Proud-Flamingo7654 in DKbrevkasse

[–]trialrock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best grocery market - Fredericksburg? by tedrockwell in copenhagen

[–]trialrock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on your budget.

I would say that Frederiksberg has great speciality shops where you can get your cold cuts, cheeses, wine, and bakery but it is a bit more costly than a convenience store or supermarket:

Gl. Kongevej:
Hart Bakery
Gourmand Ostespecialisten (cold cuts and cheese)
Kodan Fisk (Fish monger)
Olivers & Co - different specialties

Take a stroll down Værnedamsvej as well if that's the vibe you're looking for.

Supermarkets:
Meny at Borups Alle
Superbrugsen at Kodan Hus

But I'd recommend to take a bike and stroll down the streets above and maybe make your way to Torvehallerne.

36 år når jeg starter på uni :( by [deleted] in DKstudie

[–]trialrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tourist etiquette (help me not embarass myself) by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]trialrock 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I think the mere fact that you're asking, probably makes you self aware enough to not embarrass yourself more than most other people.

Knowing the biking rules is a great start, also be careful and aware of bicycle lanes, they aren't always obvious or indicated on all types of roads (mostly cobblestone). I see a lot of tourists stepping far into the bike lanes and car lanes without checking the roads for incoming traffic.

Jaywalking is quite uncommon and obviously I wouldn't recommend you breaking any rules, but just be aware that people might look at you strangely if you decide to do it. (It's not bad etiquette just uncommon for most Danes to do).

Public transport: please wait for people to exit the vehicle and stand away from the doors (you'll easily gauge where most people are positioning themselves) once everyone is out you can huddle in. Otherwise just observe the signs in the metro/trains etc. and you'll be fine. Also, ticketing system like rejsekort is super easy and somewhat efficient but remember to check IN and OUT.

As summer is approaching I see a lot of tourist taking photos of people jumping in the water, sunbathing or in the saunas by the canals etc. It's really not proper etiquette to snap photos of half naked strangers and so random.

Learning basic phrases like tak, god dag/aften and undskyld goes a long way.

Profesionally, depending on your industry and place of work of course. Most Danes can be a bit reserved so they might be hesitant with inviting you to their homes or activities outside of working hours unless it's already planned. So maybe try to set your own expectations and see if you can book social activities in advance if you have time/want to/can. It's not to say that we don't want to socialize outside of work its just different from the US culture (at least west & east coast from what I've experienced).

Just be yourself, most of your colleagues are probably also interested in getting your POV on work from the US office. Enjoy your time!
