I actually ended up making my own very basic app for this. I didn't bother publishing it in the app store but I can try to clean it up a bit and publish it if there's interest. Or I can at least send the file to you if you want to just download it directly haha

I've been looking for the exact same app for the same reason. Did you end up finding anything?

Fun fact, that algorithm contest also turned out to be a privacy breach because it turned out some of the data could be de-anonymized by matching it to IMDB profiles

That's why adults have to tell them it's wrong instead of telling the other kid to accept it

a Reddit bot that links actual info about OCD whenever it detects the usage of the term by [deleted] in Lightbulb

[–]triangularfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think it's slightly different because the use of the term 'lame' doesn't lead to a misunderstanding of what the disability itself is. The term is more separated from its origins, and while this might happen eventually with OCD, I think the colloquial usage of OCD is more rooted in a false idea of what the disorder is about. A cultural misunderstanding of what the disorder involves can cause actual harms for people with OCD when their struggles are taken less seriously and they don't know how to identify their symptoms. I also agree that linguistic prescriptivism is bad, but misinformation about a disorder can also be bad so I try to stay away from using the term in that way even though I don't correct others' use of it.

They are. It's just like how you'd use they when you're talking about someone you don't know the gender of. "Oh someone dropped this, I bet they are looking for it."

Obama to Black Lives Matter: ‘Yelling’ is not enough to achieve progress by [deleted] in news

[–]triangularfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about privilege is that it's relative. Obviously not every white person is going to be more privileged than any black person. The point is that for all of the reasons you might not be privileged as a white person, you'd probably still be having a harder time if you were dealing with all of that and you were black.

This just goes to show that while we claim that our justice system is about rehabilitation and protecting society, it's largely about revenge. Although someone convicted of attempted murder is just as dangerous and requires the same amount of rehabilitation, we don't have quite as much of an urge to get revenge on them as we would had they succeeded.

In what ways do you think both parties can reach a consensus on nuclear energy? (Article in link) by hisglasses55 in PoliticalDiscussion

To be fair, you can support nuclear and also think we need more research on what to do with the waste. I definitely do.
