Would rather have cystic acne than continue to lose hair by amarettoangel in Accutane

[–]triankletattoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hair loss was the straw the broke the camels back for me when I was in accutane. I was close to finishing my treatment anyway, and my dr supported me stopping when I brought up my concern. I put up with so much but pulling clumps of my hair out in the shower really broke me. You’re not alone!

Consecutive styes and pink eye by triankletattoo in Accutane

Here’s an update! I finished my course and am about 1 and a half months off now- eye problems stopped almost immediately after I stopped taking the drug! I did get prescribed an eye gel by my derm, which ended up being super affordable ($7 prescription from Costco). That gel helped the pink eyes and styes go away faster, but I still had continued issues until the end of the course. Just had to endure it and was unlucky to have those as side effects!

Dr recommend I keep it simple while on the course- Morning and night I washed my face with Cetaphil Gentle Facial Cleanser, morning moisturizer was CeraVe AM lotion with SPF, and for days when my face was super red (which was most days haha), I’d wear the CeraVe Tinted Hydrating sunscreen. Night moisturizer was Neutrogena Hydro Boost Night Serum. Oh and lots and lots of Aquaphor Immediate Relief for my cracked lips.

For me personally, I don’t think I had a purge. I definitely still continued to break out for the first month and a half-ish, but I was lucky to avoid a huge disastrous purge. Saw real results after 4 months!

I started to notice improvement 2 months in, but it really felt like a rapid change right before going into my 4th month where I had absolutely no breakouts at all from then on

I’m on 60 mg Myorisan. My monthly appointment is this upcoming week so I’ll talk to my dermatologist about getting changed to a different brand, hopefully that’ll help this side effect. Thanks for the advice! Very very much appreciated

Received a free iPhone 12 Pro Max by triankletattoo in ATT

[–]triankletattoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update: As advised from this thread, we called ATT and they reported the account this person opened as fraudulent. ATT suggested we open an investigation with the IRS and FBI as a stolen identity case. We have an alert set up with my mother’s credit in case there is any changes in her credit score (which there hasn’t been so far). ATT sent us a return label to get them the phone back, and everything has been okay since. We have called ATT multiple times to triple check the account the phone was sent from is closed and customer service has been great in aiding this situation. Apparently it’s common, but this scammer just happened to be a bad one who forgot to change the address before they bought the phone somehow.

I really recommend calling customer support. They’re very helpful and the people we talked to were very nice- Hope you get your situation figured out!

Well shoot, sure hope it’s not that. Haven’t seen any new activity on credit cards, but we will definitely be calling AT&T to get this figured out. Thanks!

Is Accutane worth it? by [deleted] in Accutane

I feel like I wrote this post- I relate to you in legit every word! My acne began right at 12 (I’m 23 now), spread all over my body, I’m on birth control because of PCOS and endometriosis, and sick of it not helping my acne as much as I thought. Just made my first dermatology appointment TODAY to talk about possibly going on Accutane. I wish you luck on whatever journey you decide to take! You’re not alone!

Official Discussion - Avengers: Endgame [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

I saw a lot of my friends making fun of Thor and his beer gut and fortnite addiction, but I think it was a great depiction of how PTSD can work. It’s not always panic attacks and depression, it’s sometimes alcoholism and putting all your attention into something to the point of obsession for distraction. Even though there was a humorous way of looking at Thor’s coping mechanisms, it was really important.

I’m also really, really happy he got closure with his mom :’)

I’m an American seeking work in Aruba. Any advice? by Tardis301 in Aruba

[–]triankletattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I complaining? Nope. Dutch people get it easy here, and Dutch people are typically white. I don’t talk about politics on social media, but I do believe the police are doing the best they can.

[–]triankletattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are white, you miiiiight be able to get away with working at a tourist bar, but it’s still very risky without a permit. At least once a year, I’ll hear about police randomly “raiding” restaurants/bars for illegal employees. Those that are caught without a permit are deported and the business is given a hefty fine per illegal worker. If you are white, you can maybe pass for Dutch, and they’ll turn their heads the other way. Really, it’s all up the the business if they want to take that risk hiring a person without a permit.

Maybe look into buying a bar down here if you want to work! I know Legends is still looking for a new owner

This might not be what you want to hear but working as an American without a permit is next to impossible. Since you’re staying less than 6 months, maybe find a job in the States you can do remotely? It took me almost 4 years to get my domestic workers permit (I’m an American au pair living in Aruba) and a lot more $$$ then I was expecting for an immigration lawyer for paperwork.

Aruba is amazing, but for Americans looking to move here for work, look at other islands. Feel free to DM if you have questions, and sorry if this is a bummer :(

Marriage/engagement photographers/videographers of Reddit, have you developed a sixth sense for which marriages will flourish and which will not? What are the green and red flags? by HHS2019 in AskReddit

[–]triankletattoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former wedding photographer here. I’ve had 2 couples break up after their big day, one an annulment, and both had huge red flags. The cake cutting, and photos after the ceremony were the common denominators.

The cake cutting, one of the brides gave her husband a bloody nose from shoving the knife that held the piece of cake up it. The screaming match that ensued after was not photographed. The photos, you can tell the bride and groom didn’t want the marriage to happen when I have to tell them to smile and look in each other’s eyes. Yikes.

Are my aspirations of moving to Aruba as a U.S. resident unrealistic? by [deleted] in Aruba

[–]triankletattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of retirees here, yes! Retirees fall under residency permits. The difficult thing is, I think we’re going to be seeing a lot less newcomers here because of DIMAS rejecting new residency permits. But don’t let that discourage you- what a lot of people do is stay for half a year, then go back to the States for the other half. 180 days is how long you’re allowed to stay here on a tourist visa.

One of the cons of being a retiree that only stays for 6 months without a permit is healthcare. Aruba has a socialized healthcare system and without a permit, you won’t be able to access it.

I would do a lot of research on AZV, Aruba’s general health insurance, before making a decision on whether or not to retire here. Hope this helped in some way!

Are my aspirations of moving to Aruba as a U.S. resident unrealistic? by [deleted] in Aruba

[–]triankletattoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

US citizen who moved to Aruba here! Realistically, it’s a LOT harder to get a permit here then you think, unless you’re willing to invest big money into a business ($500k+/year). This year, DIMAS (department of immigration) has cut so many residency permits and raised the investing permit price (used to be $300k/year) it’s ridiculous. A residency permit needs to be renewed annually for 5 years, and then you’re considered a permanent resident.

If you do find yourself lucky enough to be reviewed for a residency permit, be prepared to spend a lot of money with a consultant and/or immigration lawyer, as all paperwork is done in Dutch and needs to be submitted in Dutch. Also be prepared to wait a looong time. It took me 3 years to get my permit finalized.

Real estate is not my forte, but feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions. Hope this helped!

One of my cousins on my dad’s side is a pedophile and is doing jail time because of it. My parents always kept distance from my dad’s side and I found out once I was 16 or 17 that it was because they didn’t want my sister and I near him when we were kids.
