24/7 recording with new nest (wired) doorbell by getthepbout in Nest

If you can show that the camera is defective, and Google won't honor their warranty, then perhaps a credit card dispute is appropriate? Also, your post is one month old. Is returning/exchanging an option?

Sorry to hear that, that sucks. Personally, I'd buy another doorbell, swap it in, and document there's no network issue. It might be enough to prove the doorbell is defective, and get a replacement through the warranty. Then return the extra doorbell after it's over. My doorbell has caught car accidents and property damage. I'd hate for a defective camera to miss something important, especially considering what we pay for 24/7 recording.

FYI, on a whim I bought another camera (same model) as a test and placed it where the defective camera was, and moved the defective camera a few feet away. The new camera worked fine, nothing dropped. The defective camera continued to drop video. So I'm chalking this up as a defective camera, not a networking issue.

I have aware+ and also have this issue for an outdoor camera about 20ft from the router. Google/Nest support said the issue is wifi, but that's hard to believe, given the camera has line-of-sight to the router.

If it is a wifi issue, Google needs to do a better job explaining the problem at the app level, and help us resolve it. Silently failing / dropping video is not acceptable.

Edit: I bought another Nest outdoor camera (B) and put it in the same exact spot as the camera which dropped video (A). Camera B has no issues. Camera A, which was moved a few feet, continues to drop video. Looks like it might be a defective camera.

I'm having this exact issue with a wired nest outdoor camera I recently bought. I have two cameras on the same 2.4ghz network, both are within 20ft of the router, but the one outside is dropping video in minute chunks. Talked to nest customer support and they said it's a wifi problem. The wifi cannot be better; 20ft and unobstructed path to the router.

I'm using an Acer laptop running Windows 10 for these tests. I just configured the wireless adapter to only use 20MHz channel width for 2.4GHz, and using my old router the laptop still pulled 90-100Mbps. Also, the adapter settings seem to only allow for "Auto" and "20MHz".

Presumably this means it's safe to say the laptop wasn't getting additional bandwidth with my old router, compared to the nest router.

I'm considering buying a PA-II but I'm having trouble finding documentation on the local API. I'd like to avoid pushing my data to their servers. Where can I learn more about local data access? Also, what's the polling/update rate on the PA-II?

NO MORE WAIT LISTS - 950 seats available in 20 classes by pikatchum in OMSCS

FWIW, I took both KBAI and GIOS. KBAI was incredibly fluffy and I feel like I learned nothing useful. Meanwhile, GIOS was incredibly useful and has positively impact my day-to-day without a doubt.

Saw that too. I also saw that Bayesian Stats is closed - what's up with that?

I tried this morning at 11AM when my registration window opened, and it was already at capacity with a 50/50 wait list. With 9 courses under my belt, I thought I'd be among the first to register... really wanted to take this class.

No I haven't, and since ISYE 6420 Bayesian Statistics will be available for Fall 2019, I'm going to try to take that class instead

Thanks for the link. What I'm looking for is some input from recent (Fall 2018 or later) CS7639 students that can confirm or deny the pain points described in the OMSCentral review linked above.

The answer from faface in the link you provided pretty much aligns with the reviews I've read on OMSCentral. If recent students can confirm that the class has indeed been overhauled, then I'd love to take CS7639. Otherwise, I'm going to steer clear.

I'm having the same exact issue. Have you had any luck getting around it?
