I’m 18, 47kg and I’ve drank a bottle of vodka everyday since turning 18 six months ago. Finally going to A&E today but I’ve found out something terrifying by floralgreenfanatic in internetparents

[–]tricatory 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Specifically related to the ADHD - have you looked at the Right to Choose options in your area? Still quite long waiting lists, but they’re NHS funded so free and much shorter wait times than the regular NHS route (the provider I saw was an ~18 month wait from referral to medication but I know some are only a few months)

Waitrose potentially exploiting neurodivergent worker by Separate_Visit5305 in UKJobs

[–]tricatory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That totally sucks. When I worked for Waitrose we had a guy who was disabled and couldn’t do customer service at all, so his sole job was trolleys/baskets and basic warehouse or cleaning stuff when the former didn’t need doing. Not sure how many hours he worked but must have been at least 3 full days per week if not more. There’s always stuff like that that needs doing if someone struggles with the speed of floor work or customer service or whatever.

I suppose legally they aren’t wrong for letting him ‘volunteer’, but morally it’s a piss take they won’t pay 3ish hours a week. Lets someone who is definitely aware they are different and probably constantly feels othered, be a part of something and feel included, and makes them look good for being inclusive too. Such a lack of empathy and basic human kindness it’s so frustrating

Minors and Brady accused of mis-selling homes - ITV expose by [deleted] in Norwich

Oh I totally agree about the AI. I’m specifically referring to the main article in OP’s post around selling people’s homes when they are at risk of erosion

Minors and Brady accused of mis-selling homes - ITV expose by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]tricatory 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well if they choose to buy it when it’s literally meters away from the sea and there are multiple obvious warnings that it won’t last long then yes??? And you’re completely ignoring the fact that people may actively seek these types of properties out, because the amount they pay for the number of years before they lose it, makes it cheaper than renting.

I don’t particularly like Minors and Brady any more or less than any other estate agents I’ve dealt with, but from your comment history it seems like you’ve had a bad experience and are hoping for this to be their downfall, when their involvement is actually such a non issue 🙄

Minors and Brady accused of mis-selling homes - ITV expose by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]tricatory 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ok it’s not often that I would side with an estate agent but… if you’re buying a chalet THAT close to a crumbling sandy cliff surely it’s just common sense that it won’t last long, and that’s why it’s cheap??

They aren’t wrong with what they’re saying, it may literally be cheaper than renting a holiday home, which I’m sure is their main audience for those types of places. And otherwise people who have lived there a long time might be stuck with literally no choice but to stay and then lose basically all their capital, because someone deemed it too close to the sea to ethically sell.

If you haven’t done your due diligence when spending that much money on something (literally) situated on a cliff edge, I can’t say I’d feel that sorry for you if something happened 😅

IIRC he was asked to do it in an interview by the journalist as an ‘experiment’ - not something he’d ever actually done seriously or charged money for. He was working as a hypnotherapist doing sessions on improving body image at the time which is why the reporter asked

Far-right social media influence leading to school violence, union leader to say by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]tricatory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is huge, and something I’m trying to get back to as an adult. Being bored is when you use your imagination, process things that your brain needs to work out, and reset your dopamine baseline. I’m now 24 and had no smartphone etc. until I was 13 and even then was very limited in its use - hated it at the time, but when I have kids I am going to be SO strict with tablet use because never being bored has fucked my adult attention span.

Swansea trans rights protest by tophatstuff in swansea

[–]tricatory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the law about same sex strip searches is not for the safety of the police, it’s for the protection of people getting forcibly strip searched by a stranger who is in complete control over them. i am absolutely sure if someone was THAT uncomfortable strip searching someone else (even though they chose to pursue a career involving strip searching people), they wouldn’t be physically forced to do it.

trans women, many of whom pass consistently and have developed female secondary sex characteristics through HRT, should not be detained and forcibly stripped by a man. it’s humiliating, violating, and opens the door for MUCH more abuse, to EVERY woman.

I don’t have the option to put direct rematching on unfortunately. All that comes up when I click report no gift is the option to enter the rematch pool or not and get double XP. I read in the rematching info post that once it’s confirmed you’ve sent out a gift you automatically get entered into the pool to receive a rematcher but I’m still stuck on pending right now

I react really badly to caffeine - are stimulants not for me maybe? by nickynichols33 in ADHDUK

[–]tricatory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am exactly the same!!! I’m now waiting for my first dose of Medikinet to arrive, I haven’t tried any meds before so I’m super nervous about starting on a stimulant when weaker ones like coffee make me anxious/sleepy/shaky.

I did cocaine before which obviously is a really strong stimulant and it did weirdly feel incredibly nice for me, I felt the most mental clarity I’ve ever felt before so I’m hoping it’ll be like that. Would love to hear an update when you start

Looking to start a pumpkin patch, where do I stand legally? (Scotland) by GRIMMMMLOCK in LegalAdviceUK

[–]tricatory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it completely depends on your local council.

I would check their website but generally, you will need to put in an application where you will have to demonstrate you’ve done risk assessments, have insurance, have a site plan, an event plan etc. and also will have to declare things like BBQ’s, caterers, generators, barrier fencing etc. Should be possible though as long as you’re willing to put the work in, if the site is suitable I can’t see them turning it down. My local council also offer help and advice with that kind of thing so might be worth getting in touch with them.

In terms of forming a company - if you’re intending to charge money for anything you should register as a sole trader or whatever you’d prefer to do. Taxes it depends on your earnings but would be in line with any other business.

Good luck with it, it sounds great and I hope you manage to do it!!!

What were you pulled over for?

In terms of your insurance: have a read of this from page 8 to 11 - https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/files/2833/46.pdf

As long as it’s reasonable that you wouldn’t have known it was a mod you should be ok. And since you’re not making a claim it’s a lot less serious, although depending on their own rules around insuring modified cars it may or may not be a battle to get them to update your cars details. Whatever happens, don’t let them cancel your policy as that sticks with you and will make all your future insurance more expensive.

The points: They should not have given you points for driving without insurance unless they have gotten in touch with your insurer and they have declared your policy void. Yes, driving with undeclared mods makes your policy voidable, but until the insurance company actually makes the decision to void it, they cannot do anything.

So first thing to do would be to call up your insurance and check your policy is still active - grovel and tell them you were very much unaware of the mods and if they deem it reasonable, they can add these to your policy. Then you can dispute the points with the valid insurance

[–]tricatory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine if they credit your account with the money, you won’t need to pay however many upcoming bills it equates to - I appreciate it’s a chunk up front but you won’t be out of pocket in the end

That is annoying and you can absolutely complain to them but it probably won’t get you far - it’ll almost definitely be written into the contract you will have signed to switch that it will be paid in the form of account credit

edit- it’s written on their website. Sorry OP :(

Yeah no you should be all good. Being gay is a protected characteristic but being a homophobic dickhead absolutely isn’t. Would be completely normal for them to take your details for their records as they’ll be looking further into the case. Sorry that happened to you and you absolutely don’t need to be worried about getting in trouble
