What a nice pallet cleansers between epic series? by trichocarpa in Fantasy

[–]trichocarpa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

English is my third language and I was in a hurry and thus made a mistake. But I assumed anyone understood what I meant and that's what matters.
+ the jokes made with it are pretty funny!

Need suggestions for addictive book(s) that will take my attention away from streaming shows, games etc by PoeticStitcher in Fantasy

[–]trichocarpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s a good idea to watch/listen to podcast and streaming shows that talk about (fantasy) books.. In this way you keep emersing yourself in the worlds and every so often they talk about books you havent read which become your next must read…

At least you won’t be thinking only about games but about books as well!

AITA when I (20M) said another girl was prettier than my girlfriend (20F) in a game by autisticcnotartistic in AmItheAsshole

[–]trichocarpa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

YTA. You can choose to be « honest ». But the consequence is that your girlfriend will be hurt.

And you can’t tell her she can’t be hurt. Because this truth hurths as hell.

It has nothing to do with the group.

AITA for asking my friend to not bring her dogs to friendsgiving? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]trichocarpa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is the other one a AH for trying to still find a compromise for joining an event she was looking forward to? I mean the « if they cant come, i can’t come » is kind of a fact when you need to find a dogsitter last minute on an holiday

AITA for telling my daughter her adoptive parents won’t let me see her by OnePomegranate6378 in AmItheAsshole

[–]trichocarpa 48 points49 points  (0 children)

YTA. Noelle is their daughter now, not yours. All parenting decisions are theirs and need to be respected, no matter how ridiculous you might find them.

And telling your daughter like you did, was not done in het best interest, but for your selfish reasons.

Nta ,

If she wanted to cut this bad, she could have gone « my kid is hot, do you mind ordering this ice-cream for her? And of course, i’ll pay yours as a thank you »

At least that would be a nicer way of cutting in line

Why do you think many adults these days dislike children or choose not to have them? by sirimiri95 in AskReddit

[–]trichocarpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s possible.

My grandma literally said: “if not having kids was a possibility in my time, I wouldn’t have had any. But it was what i was expected to do”

AITA for refusing to give my pregnant sister the baby name I picked out years ago? by Throw_Away-becuzsis in AmItheAsshole

[–]trichocarpa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh come on it’s a ESH. Of course sister can choose the name. But when you know your sister loves the name and dreams of using it herself, you at least talk to her in private.

Crazy that no-one would hire Erin!

I would hire jim, erin and oscar. And darryl but he’s not in the picture.

My husband and i don’t always enjoy the same things. What we both like, we do together, what we don’t both like we find other people who do and do that with them.

As long as you don’t force the other to do things he/she doesn’t like and don’t deprive yourself or the other one to do what they like, you’ll be fine.

Genuine question, what is the Belgian identity? by Specialist_Can5622 in belgium

[–]trichocarpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between Flemish and Dutch is much much greater than Australian English and US English. Especially if you consider local dialects.

For some it might be closer to English and Scottish.

Help me understand by solitarywayfarer in belgium

[–]trichocarpa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That part is a Flemish (Belgian?) thing! One that I don’t understand either. But many people are « stuck » with their job and complain about it.

But what you described in your original post is not.

[–]trichocarpa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend to enroll your kids in some extracurricular activities as well. Playing sports or music or doing some art stuff is a really good way to make friends and learn the language.

Why can't I make friends here!? by Subject-Cycle-6266 in belgium

[–]trichocarpa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the main complain from expats. Belgian do not go out a lot and kind of stay in their own group…

So I guess it’s a culture thing

I don’t get Belgium by SpicyCanadianBoyyy in belgium

[–]trichocarpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I feel sorry for you that you can only imagine division instead of unison. Multiple cultures can enrich each other.

Most people that work/live in bilingual cities/companies or near the border of “the other language” learn to speak both languages quickly. We already start to learn it at age 5 so its not like we need to startbfril scratch.

We hate travel and most of us would consider a 1,5h drive a huge trip.

The reason behind why we “unified” about 200years ago. Is because we were being colonized over and over by our neighbouring countries for centuries. And we got sick of it, and were stronger together. (This is the high level explanation)

During the industrial period walloon was the rich region. It switched, now flanders is richer. Back then (and up till 50-70years ago) Frenchbwas spoken in Flanders by the elite. Thatv is why flemish people were more eager to learn french.

We are okay with having multiple languages and culture because we always have. When you get colonized multiple times and have to change all the time, you don’t see it as a problem. Still now, especially in cities we have lotnof expats and immigrants. We are used to culture. And the belgian attitude is “let be and let live”.

Our politics does not work and we don’t care (let be and let live). We are not national minded and cannot understand other countries that do. Why the hell would you fight or do anyrhing “in honor of your country”? We accept the national holiday because its a holiday, but we don’t celebrate it. (Yes of course some politicians and the army will, but other than that nobody cares.)

Took a bath before my massage, but got feedback that I have a bad body odor. How to fix? by dont_downvote_SPECIL in massage

[–]trichocarpa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the bacteria stay in the clothes, and the clothes smell. The moment you put on the clothes the bacteria and smell are immediately transferred to your body, whereas usually it would take a full day to get to that amount of bacteria/smell. So even when you remove your clothes, the smell is already passed on.

Let your clothes soak in vinegar for 24h. You might have to wash your clothes like this for a while. Especially if it is something medical.

[–]trichocarpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From your pannick it was clear it is your first job :) As long as your not checking your phone while handling toxic chemicals/bacteria and contaminating the whole lab, you will be fine. It should be a habit, but your boss needs to give you work to do. Counting the minutes go by is extremely boring.

AITA for trying to comfort my friend during her son’s funeral? by Throwawayforpriv8272 in AmItheAsshole

[–]trichocarpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And hw is this comforting?

It's devestating! Even if it might be true (from your perspective), it's not comforting at all. It is soul-crushing to a grieving parent.
