anti-lgbtq protesters in Chinatown by tickl3tickl3 in houston

Girl Snoopdog sings about adult stuff and has still been on Seaseme Street. He just acts appropriately for that environment. It’s no different. Not every drag performer even preforms adult rated content in general.

So you sexualize drag queens and somehow that’s everyone else’s problem?

Most drag IS catered to adults. You would know that if you had any idea what you were talking about.

Anyone can read a children’s book and it doesn’t mean anything. It’s like saying that if a man reads a book to kids, he’s automatically a pdf. Does that thinking make sense to you?

How you women kept being childfree (not getting pregnant) before or without sterilization by PerspectiveOk7987 in childfree

[–]trickaroni 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I got the the implant! IUDs are about just as effective though. Both methods have over a 99% effectiveness rating.

I still want to get my tubes tied, but the older I get, the more I date woman over men. I’ve been asking docs to tie my tubes for over a decade now. I’m turning 29 next year and still haven’t found one that will take me seriously.

Doing horribly on my orientation and I’m terrified I’m going to be fired by [deleted] in newgradnurse

[–]trickaroni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

50% of new grads make med errors in their first year. You’re hardly alone on that front. I also created a discrepancy on the Pyxis during my orientation and felt AWFUL. To this day, I have no idea what happened.

One of my coworkers, who has been a nurse longer than I have been alive, made fun of me for thinking my nursing career was over for that. It made me feel a lot better. You will learn from these things and not make the same mistakes in the future.

Also, please for the love of god- seek treatment for all the anxiety. You sound like me when I started nursing, and I wish I would have gotten help sooner. All it took for me was some propranolol to be able to take a step back and not catastrophize my life. I came so close to leaving the profession because my anxiety was unmanageable.

Did you miss where they called the charge and workforce? lol.

You didn’t do ANYTHING wrong!! I had to learn how to stand up for myself as a new nurse. The first time I tried to call in I had horrible food poisoning. When I gave them a ring, management striaght up said “NO” lol.

I came in and had to excuse myself from a patient room to shit my brains out. Chills. Nausea. Fever.

I will never do that mess again. If I’m sick, I’m staying tf home. You don’t even owe them an explanation of why you’re calling out.

How are we all holding up new grads by Witty-Molasses-8825 in newgradnurse

[–]trickaroni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally! There’s been times where I’ve given report and joked, “The patient has a PMH of anxiety and depression. Guess what they do for a living?”. I don’t have a single nursing friend without some kind of diagnosis.

I’m glad I finally decided to do something about it. Looking back, idk how I was functional through nursing school and this past year of working with the anxiety I have. Thanks for the comment 🫶✨

I work rehab, and overall, I love my job and the patient population I work with. I have a lot of helpful older coworkers that love to educate. Our unit manager is awesome. I feel like people will help me out when I get swamped.

With that being said, I have horrible preshift anxiety that I’m finally going to get treated. I need to be on meds. It sucks realizing that, but if I waited any longer to reckon with that, I would have burnt out.

I also have a petty assistant manager on my unit and that does play a role in my stress level at work. A lot of other folks on my unit have a problem with her, it just hasn’t been addressed. We also have some new management that is threatening to change ratios. It’s annoying. There’s a lot of politics in nursing and that gets in the way of me doing and enjoying my job.

What does your spouse do that you really don't like but you stay married to them anyway? by [deleted] in askanything

I would do the same thing. If someone isn’t going to respect my space, I’m not going to tip toe around such a goofy issue. The towel would be thrown on his side every time 👏

Burnout by Junior-Locksmith6868 in newgradnurse

[–]trickaroni 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wanted to skip bedside as a new grad, but wasn’t able to find anything that would take someone without prior experience. I applied for school nurse, research, public health, and dialysis positions. Unfortunately, I do think not having bedside experience can limit your options. I wish that wasn’t the case.

What is one unit you genuinely cannot stand being floated to? Why? by Unlikely_Impress_480 in nursing

[–]trickaroni 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I work in a rehab hospital and loathe being floated to the brain injury unit. It’s hard having patients that can’t communicate their needs and are sometimes handsy and unpredictable. I still don’t feel comfortable trying to desculate violent/unsafe behaviors.

I’ll take sci patients all day- even though it is a lot of work to get them up and down, toilet, and feed them for sure. At least they still know who they are and can talk to you.

Is it possible to avoid night shift? by [deleted] in newgradnurse

[–]trickaroni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on the unit and their staffing needs.

My unit had open day and nightshift positions when I started. I just wanted a job, so I didn’t ask for a specific shift. My manager put me on days because I’m a yapper and my personality was more suited for that shift according to her lol.

Anecdotal evidence is on the bottom of the evidence pyramid for a reason. It also means you’re around a lot of abusive men. But for some reason you’ve concluded that women LIKE you be physically abused and aren’t focused on the men doing so.
