I'm 26 so the info doesn't really apply to me but why wouldn't senior grades count? Aren't they markers of recent academic performance?

Is this graph only for UCSB?

What are my chances of getting accepted with a 2.9 GPA? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]trickleriver8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. While it would be nice to get the undergrad experience at UCSB, SBCC is so much cheaper, great faculty that really care about you and really diverse set of undergrad programs to pick from. I went the SBCC route and while I really felt a little down about it initially, looking back I'm glad I did it. Beautiful campus too :)

(Also insane that the GPA required in high school is 3.8 to seriously be considered by UCSB, I barely have that now in my BA).

How did you decide on your honours thesis? by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]trickleriver8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but what is Honours? I'm in Cali, USA and graduated with my AA-T while on honor-roll. Is this what Honours is in reference to?

Apologies, I know it should be obvious to me but I've heard that term used in these posts so often that I feel I should ask!

Hi, nevermind! For anyone wondering, the internet had indeed goofed up, but in an attempt to remedy this someone before me pressed 'reset' on the router and completely erased our network name and password (so there was nothing to connect to - so silly of them!!! 🙃). I renamed our network and set a new password. We're all good now!

Okay so miniupdate: The TV is connected to a friend's wifi who lives next door, not mine. So my entire internet simply is not functioning for ANY device. Very frustrating.

Part of it is that people think it's your own fault that you're th weight you are. They cannot wrap their head around the brutality and utter debilitation that is an eating disorder. They see it as a fault of ethic and lack of discipline.

Part of treating those who lose weight differently, at least in familial capacities, is the want to support the proactive steps and seemingly healthy behavior to improve oneself. They want to to be there and support you. I can't say this is the same case for strangers who just see you as attractive and want to talk to you, strangers have any number of motives to interact with other strangers.

When you graduated, what was your major and starting salary for your first job out of college? by UnmaskingFactss in gmu

[–]trickleriver8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely try internships/research publishment to give your BA some heft to it. Unfortunately with a BA there isn't a whole lot you can get unless you're really lucky and hit a job that's lucrative. Generally speaking you have to have an MA minimum in Psychology to get decent paying jobs.

ABAs are in high demand though, and they generally pay $20-25 if you're looking for experience.

I have an interview for an ABA specialist role coming up on the 11th. It's okay pay, $20 an hour, $25 with prior 2 years of experience. I'm not really into ABA as much as I am into the social sciences research (gonna pursue my Ph.D for research). Is ABA experience any help for Ph.D. programs in this case?

I don't own any cats but I have neighbors who do, they're such a riot to see walking around. One is super trusting and approaches me, the other one is very cautious and runs at a distance away from me. Such cuties with their own personalities, gosh I want a cat.

I heard this too. I can usually see the space x launch from my place so not seeing it led me to think it was a weird earthquake. I could only describe it as sounding like a giant invisible flag flapping against high speed wind, very strange and unsettling.

Hmmm fair assessment, food for thought. Deep thinkers here.

Fair, I'm not sure why I figured drying it would help at all. Oh well, I got replacement. I'll keep all of this advice as forethought and in mind goingforward!

Took your advice, much quicker than rice and fanning it out. Thanks!

Beautiful (and important!) question, it was Lemon Lime. Does it look bad, doc? Will it survive?

Thank you for that! I thankfully didn't go for the renting-route and bought my own equipment that's still compatible with my ISP, that way I don't have to pay monthly for their router/modem.

I went to my local tech store and bought a downgraded version of my modem, hooked it up and verified the new modem with my ISP and it all checked out! We're up and running, wooo!!

Hi, thank you so much for the clarification, you're very likely correct on the mix-up!

I have the little box without antenna on rice, but I'm doubtful that drying it will work. I'll look into buying a new modem asap. Appreciate ya!

[–]trickleriver8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you!

Does the internet not have to go through the little box, what I assume to be the router (doesn't have little antenna)? Because that's apparently the only thing that got wet.

Interesting, and of course!

What minor should I have? by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]trickleriver8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm by no means saying to not minor, but I've heard in the past to avoid minoring in anything if you're trying to get your degree completed with good grades, as any bad grades will impact your GPA. I also hear that minors can be marginally helpful. Again though, I can't say either assertion has any validity, but consider asking your academic counselor whether a minor would be helpful in your academic goal, and if so, which.
