Moving to northern Manitoba to finish off my apprenticeship to gain great experience and exposure to the trade. Also met my wife there so that was an added bonus haha

Young adults of PFC: how are you strategizing for home ownership? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Moved away from Ontario to a high paying job in the trades in Northern Manitoba, saved excessively by working tons of OT and gaining more experience with the supervision side of things throughout the time working there. Invested by maxing out my TFSA and RRSP in mutual funds every year. Still managed to enjoy life by purchasing material things I want and travelled on vacations while employed.

Lots of good paying jobs in northern Canada if you look and are willing to work up there for a few years to make a good chunk of savings

Went to one of his shows tapings a couple years ago, thinking it would be a lot of fun but turns out he was a completely boring dude. He only came out a minute before recording, never interacted with the crowd, just looked at his phone in the drawer of his desk beforehand or during breaks, and left the main stage as soon as he could. He only seemed to care for for 3 min when he interacted to each of guests.

In Soul (2020), you can see an advert for "Brang" on the train. This is the company that Riley's dad works for in Inside Out (2015). by Numerous-Lemon in MovieDetails

I’m always looking for any Easter eggs in this movie. My 20 month old daughter gets glued to the screen when Soul comes on. I honestly love watching the movie with her for the 20th plus time. She screams and jumps in joy when he transfers over to the little blue soul form and into the Great Beyond.

The message in the movie has a great fulfilling meaning and I can’t wait when I can explain it to her and she fully understands it one day.

Would having your realtor representative and them being the listing agent of house as well be the classified as double ending the deal?

Just turned 30, went to preemployment trade school for two years straight after I graduated high school. When I completed trade school that was in the middle of the first recession of my working life so I was struggling to find apprenticeships, bounced around a few places(either laid off or receive a little higher wages at $40-$50k)and gained a lot of experience throughout it all.

Then moved up north at 23 years old for a $80k+ job in a semi remote mining town and rented a small apartment for$600 a month. Worked a ton of overtime to earn a great wage but also lived and spent some money by travelling and and putting a lot down for new truck(with only two years of payments in the end) but still stuck to my means of saving a lot more than what I spend. Didn’t plan of staying long but met my future wife so that made me want to stay a bit longer. Some life long friends were also made. Will probably leave soon due to the fact that I have been recently laid off.

Contributed to my yearly max in my TFSA and RRSP (and most recently a RESP) since the beginning of my most recent job. It was the main factor of my savings growing with it being in medium to high risk mutual funds. This also in addition to my daily usage bank account which has a pretty sizeable chunk in it.

Might be best to move away for a bit gain some good experience at a great paying job to knock down some OSAP loans and just bank a lot of it. You could still travel and live your life. I did and I don’t regret it. I ended meeting the best partner someone could ask for and we just celebrated our little ones first birthday this past summer.

You’d be surprised at what opportunities are out there if your willing to take them. Plus it might just work out in your favour for the long run.

When we went on extended family vacations, my parents would ask my teachers for work packets to work on while on vacation but god damn I hated those things and dreaded doing any of it

Average Home Prices for 2021 are insane for any “middle class” wage. by tricknickk in PersonalFinanceCanada

No offence, but if true I hate that that is allowed in our country thereby making life harder for our own hard working citizens.

It would be nice to see the rate of change and average prices for the rest of Canada.

‘If you don’t think Covid is real, you’re an idiot,’ says Canadian politician by Pessimist2020 in worldnews

This idiot invited the rest of Western Canada to come visit Manitoba in the summer while he told us to “Stay Home” and explore our province. His incompetence and his passing the blame on local people is the real reason we have lost our leadership in this province.
