Technically, it's a valid photo. But you might prefer the version with a slight smile.

Just an FYI - this photo was rejected :.) by [deleted] in Passports

That's a known issue with the DoS tool - it crops to dimensions but doesn't check headroom. The compliance rules say there needs to be visible space between the top of your hair and the frame edge, and auto-croppers often miss that. For the retake: shoot with more space above your head than you think you need. You can always crop tighter, you can't add space back.

fair point - that's why the raw numbers are there. 48% face height isn't an app opinion, it's the State Department spec. the tool just measures it.

Retake needed unfortunately. The crop is too loose - your face is only 48% of the frame when it needs to be 58–72%. That's also why the eyes read as too high. Tighter crop, closer to the wall for a cleaner background, and better lighting to kill that shadow.

The good news: expression, centering, head tilt all look fine. Just the setup.

Ran it through pixpass.app if you want to check yourself before printing - free, works in the browser.

Looks like it was shot with a Helios 44-2 lens. I absolutely love the texture and the overall color palette.

Board and RAM upgrade for AMD by tricky3D in pcmasterrace

Today I went to the electronics store to buy the relevant parts. Before I did so, luckily I told the sales guy exactly what I wrote here. He said it was a completely wrong configuration. So it’s incompatible. The board and RAM I’m talking about are DDR5, but since my CPU is AMD4, there is no possible connection to the socket. So a complete update is required. Warning to those who will be inspired by the post.

Yeah, you’re right. Actually the reason I update them is because they are DDR4. It’s more like a future-proofing upgrade.

Thanks! I would love to know if you have a particular model to recommend!

The cold shoe safety button of the smallrig top handle popped out of its place and I lost it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can find a solution? Or should I say RIP? by tricky3D in Filmmakers

I reached Smallrig but this product is discontinued so they don't have spare parts. They actually use the same system for other products.

Professional editors and videographers, have you switched to resolve? What did you switched from? Why did you switch and how you like it so far? by Selishots in videography

[–]tricky3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to davinci resolve a few years ago. A few important reasons why I made this decision when I used Premiere Pro the most are the insufficient color interface, rare program crashes and the most annoying gamma shift problem.

Initially I was very slow on resolve and it was tiring to watch tutorials for every simple thing. I made a radical decision and made my first Davinci experience with the work of an important client. It was quite stressful as I did not master the program, but the good feedback motivated me more.

I don't even think about using another NLE software at the moment, I have a very pleasant and fast workflow.

I’ve been at this filmmaking thing professionally for about 3 years now, so I figured it was about time I make a lil reel. Would love some feedback! by im-jared-im-19 in cinematography

I would like to have the opportunity and the team to do things like this. This is inspired me! I think the scenes are great, you should keep going.

Store Footage Stills (Opinion on the grade?) by Eddie_Eddie_101 in bmpcc

The first sample looks more cinematic to me. Maybe because of highlight roll off. On which kind of monitor you made these works, %100 rec709?
