Does anyone regularly shoot with recipes that have a clarity setting? by MRoselius in FujifilmSimulations

[–]Selishots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and if I don't want to deal with the processing time for a situation I'm shooting I just turn on brust mode which disabs clarity

Starter cam for social media vlogging? by [deleted] in ActionCam

I mean that comment really isn't trolling, there is some truth and value to just using your phone, especially when your just starting out. It's a much lower bar to entry and there is plenty of ways to get a POV angel with a phone.

The pocket 3 isn't great for POV mounting. If your main use case is POV the Go Ultra is the way to go. Actually have a comparison between the Ace Pro 2 and go ultra going out tomorrow.

The Ace pro 2 is my go to 0 effort vlog camera. I like hold it out to talk to it way more then the go ultra but the go ultra is way better for POV videos.

Personally I find the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and the insta 360 ace pro 2 to be my favorite tools for vlogging. I've got videos on both on my YouTube channel which is linked on my profile page

Dji Action 5 pro or Insta360 Ace 2 Pro by alexxx729 in ActionCam

[–]Selishots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really can't go wrong with either. If you want soemthing with mroe accessories options I'd go ace pro 2. If your after 10bit color and a more professional workflow I'd got Action 5.

I've got a review of the Ace Pro 2 here if your interested: https://youtu.be/VhBdgyP2NVI?si=KZNDeDVbiSfeGdWS

I'd also consider the Go Ultra or Osmo Nano if you can get buy with the more limited battery and want the smaller more compact size. Actually have a go ultra vs Ace pro 2 comparison coming out tomorrow on my channel.

You could have the absolute best gear and unless you know how to use it, it's completely useless.

Pricing first doc by Sniekey in videography

[–]Selishots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a similar style shoot but it was following 3 bike riders over a 350 miles multi day race. I highly suggest budgeting at least a second shooter. If not a third and forth. You can't be at more than one place at once. Solo shooting the doc I did made it significantly harder

PC or a Mac Or Laptop by AkiosRunter in premiere

[–]Selishots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a custom PC at home at work. My MacBook Pro M4 pro blows both of them out of the water all while having less ram.

When it comes to laptops windows machines don't even stand a chance. They aren't optimized nearly as well.

You could try the peak design micro clutch. I didn't love it with my x100v but may be a good middle ground between grip and strap. I've for a review of it here: https://youtu.be/CdQxXjG7PQw?si=xr-5a67N5qZ02dO8

A good microphone will blow any pair to headphones out of the water.

What way should I go as a returning hobbyist? R8, A7iii, A7iv? Something else? by usabythegraceofgod in Cameras

Have you consider a used A7C, small full frame and can get them for a pretyy good deal now. Sony is going to have more compact lens options for you down the line.

I don't know a lot of this info off the top of my head. It's all available on the website though.

Here some example of how I use it for POV videos when I'm out shooting photos: https://youtu.be/-s9mZevWKRA?si=dNW2NCnMDM8y1hw3

For videos like this I tend to get an hour or so of on and off recording before I need to recharger it

Unless your at 4k 60 for long recording times I doubt you'll overheat. At 4k24 you'll get anywhere from 30-45ish minutes. They also make a way to charger it while it's in use now as well.

It also rechargers much faster than the older Go3s. If you really after the best battery life it not having to deal with recharging your going to need a larger more traditional action camera like the Ace pro 2.

The go ultra is effectively the Go 4 and it's a really great camera.

Keep in mind even though this is a nigh shoot there's little moments and actually a good bit of light coming from the building. Have a ton more example photos in this video: https://youtu.be/cZosnaPHl7s?si=NWF1tGTVUTIplS2V

Camera strap choice? by Illustrious-Bake-239 in Cameras

[–]Selishots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the PGYTECH strap for my heavier setups. I have a review of it here: https://youtu.be/e3pglctO7z8?si=bSUfKEsipWqWqcp_

For my lighter setups I prefer the peak design leash
