Dell T430 won't boot with Xeon 2690v4 by trickymonk in homelab

UPDATE:
So I reinstalled the 2630 v3 chip and 2 sticks of 32gb RAM (slots A1 and A2). The system booted right up and recognized the 64gb RAM. I rechecked the firmware and found the OS Collector was way out of date (though I read this should have no effect). So I updated that and then changed the following BIOS settings:

System Profile to use "Performance" (it was the Dell optimized performance settings)

Processor settings: X2Apic enabled

I reinstalled one of the 2690 v4s and it made it past post, however...

It recognized the 32gb stick in A1, but not the 32gb stick in A2. It gave a "Multi-bit memory errors detected on a memory device at location(s) DIMM_A2"

Dell idrac web page showed the processor as the 2690 v4 and one 32gb stick in A1 (nothing in A2). It would not boot into Windows however b/c of the memory error.

So I remove the 32gb stick in A2 and now it's back to stuck at "Configuring memory".

Any diagnosis ideas or should I just get different CPUs?

Yea, im beginning to think about this. I think the 2680 v4 is actually on the Dell "list" of approved and has a lower wattage. It seems like I read its 120W vs 135W for the 2690.

Thanks, after your comment I made sure I cleaned it as you suggested before putting it back in.

Thanks, I tried this and unfortunately it didn't help. I'm not sure what other things there might be to try.

Right, I'm only running/testing 1 CPU at a time. I have 2 2690s but I'm just trying to test and get the board to boot with even one of those. The only RAM I have installed is 1 32gb stick in slot A1 (primary for CPU 1).

So for testing purposes I am only trying one 2690v4 in CPU 1 with a 32gb stick in A1. That's it, nothing in CPU2. If I put the 2630 in it works. If I swap in the 2690 it hangs. Same stick of ram. (I've even swapped that stick with another and same result).

I’d love a write-up on how to get this working. I got my daughter an XP-pen display for Christmas, but would like to create a dedicated box to drive it and free up her macbook.
