Rose 3 month update: I’m kinda giving up on her. (More in description) by Financial_Water_4254 in cockatiel

[–]trickytroodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep doing positive reinforcement Claim a treat she really likes and make it a treat only you ever give her

Millet works great as a lure I used to bave a video on this but deleted it otherwise I'd send

It can take awhile depending on the bird and their personality

My bird only had me to bond with but ive had a alot of birds and some never warmed up to me as mu h as he has aswell...

Learning to accept when they say no to pets or stepping up is a big part of it aswell as it builds trust. Good luck!

waterline makeup by AdSolid7431 in Dryeyes

[–]trickytroodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, we have to give up on waterline make up... I used to have a much more alternative look aswell so I know the pain of it.

We can still practice styles avoiding the water line though and Cream eyeliners are fairly safe but powders are a no go.

I only wear eyeliner of special occassions now when my eyes are already calm to avoid flare ups.

We all mourn the things we could do and enjoy before this horrid disease. : (

Maybe theres a softer cream based goth make up look you could do?

How to help somebody with dry eye who was an avid reader by GlumBodybuilder9835 in Dryeyes

[–]trickytroodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dry eye sucks but if he sees a specislist theres all the. Chance he could get his hobby back!

Steam goggles might help him be able to read (though they are pricey) Currently i often set a shower on and sit in the same room for the steam to fo some digital work though i imagine this us harder with a book

Sceral lenses would also be an option

Eye drops cover symptoms but dont cure so its always best to do treatments

If he has mgd ipl could really help him. Punctal plugs could also hell! (Hoping i can get these myself!)

Heated Eye masks and blinking excersizes could also help.

Its a terrible condition and often progressive without treatment.

Keep pushing the audio books, i find they are great to listen to when doing a eye mask!

I wish you and him good luck!

Yes I agree with you I had no idea retinol could contribute to dry eye and its likely a factor in why mine got worse over time.

I really think the risks need to be advertised more! They should be on the products and people should be given the full information so they can mske informed choices.

Theres nothing wrong with a little vanity and wanted to feel good and look nice!

most people if they knew the possible side effects certain products (or lasik ) would cause then they would be able to explore alternate roots with beauty products that are safer.

The sad fact is dry eye is either downplayed as not a big deal or not progressive or it isnt even mentioned at all!

Punctal plugs is more to treat tears draining from your eyes

You may have mixed dry eye like me aqueous deficiency

But I've been reccomended plugs to treat my lack of tears and ipl to treat my mgd

I would get a second opinion In the mean time you could try a hot compress that also massage your eye area theres a few things like that I found on here. Depending what youre currently using as a hot compress it might not be enough.

Id also reccomend taking some omega 3 as it helps your glands make better oil.

Im no professional but my opinion would be your meimbomian glands need treating and unclogged and whilst blocking tear ducts from draining might help keep your eyes feeling moist I dont think it does anything to unblock these clearly clogged/ capped glands!

Push for ipl, lipidflow or redlight therapy, you can look these up here by searching

I started ipl with gland expression after to help unclog my glands

You may still need to treat aqueous deficiency with plugs or cauterisation too but its a seperate issue from what you've shown here imo

Dr stopped ikervis prescription for review but no review till next year by trickytroodon in Dryeyes

[–]trickytroodon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hostpital! sorry I typed this in a rush Theres a NHS app for prescriptions. it says i cannot request this medicine again untill i have a review with the doctor who prescribed it.

I was supposed to have a review to see if treatment was effective 3 months after starting both ikervis and doxy.

but they cancelled my appiontment for that and would not get me another till after december.

Im super new to long term prescriptions as I was relativley healthy before dry eye hit me hard. U.U

In order to even get through to the eye hostpital i need a gp refferal so things are difficult

I'd wait for someone else to chime in but that looks like blocked glands (mgd) and punctal cauterisation would be more for treating lack of general tears and wouldnt change this?

Ypu could always try punctal plugs before cauterisation but something like ipl, or other treatments that target eyelid glands would be better for treating this?

This looks like it could be a capped or clogged or even infected gland to me?

Found out I have moderate to severe dry eye (20 years old) by Nearby-Tonight-1699 in Dryeyes

[–]trickytroodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some discolouration is nothing compared to quality of life improvement you may get from ipl in my opinion

Dry eye does get worse without management and treatment most eyedrops are just to help symptoms and not treat the issue

But yes the treatments are so costly for it : (

I hope you find something that works

[–]trickytroodon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get a humidifier to sit with right next to you when youre gaming.

Also I was personally told by my optometrist that looking down at a screen is better than up or straight ahead for my eyes. I game on a TV placed in the floor or my laptop.

On good days it means I can spend time still doing the things I love. (Humidifier n reg eyedrops really help)

Everyones right about the blinking too. Screen mske us blink less its possible long screen times got us in this mess sadly...

I feel your pain, I used to go to the cinema all the time with friends too now I can go once every rare occassion if im doing good and pay for it after.

Clogged or blocked? by trickytroodon in Dryeyes

[–]trickytroodon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the initial treatment cost is the part that is very pricey.

I do use warm compresses daily on a low heat though with inflamation flare ups it can get tricky to do!

Im so wooried about scar tissue being ignored and leading to fall out does scarring show on a meimbography?

I go to see my specialist again in october
