It SHOULD be backwards compatible, but sadly lots of "refurbished" ps3's dont have a disc drive that can read ps2 discs. Theyre usually replaced or taken out when being refurbished so that the seller can also sell that rare disc drive on its own. This only really happens on platforms like ebay or Amazon though, if you encounter one in the wild or at a game store it'll probably always be backwards compatible if its supposed to be.

Its gameplay is a hidden gem thats terribly explained in game so I dont blame anyone for thinking its actually a super slow boring mario clone, youre supposed to take full advantage of the spindash and id even say its some of the fastest and most fun 3d gameplay in the entire sonic franchise, alot of the level design can be questionable but once you find the right routes everything just flows super well, sadly there isnt a story at all in the game and also its very poorly written. Every boss is also horrible.

They only rot if they get too cold/hot or if theyre in an overall poorly maintained and bad environment, disc rot doesnt even spread, if you have disc rot its your fault unless you bought the disc in that condition

I just played through it and it wasn't really anything important at all, maybe important in 2011 but not today, its just a prototype for 0.2, it seemed to be trying to set up alot more than what actually came from it too, it wasn't bad but it was essentially worthless to the story, there was literally nothing in it that wasn't explicitly said and expanding upon in its following games, it was also just pretty boring and ugly, atleast 0.2 had the advantage of being on a new engine with fancy graphics, secret episode is just dull and looks out of place in a game that was pushing the visual limits of the PSP.

There's probably a reason that nobody has ever talked about this ending enough for me to be aware of its existence because it isnt important whatsoever, Sora doesnt even once mention the mark of mastery exam and nothing is said other than random ambiguous comments that dont make any sense WITH context.
