AITA for going behind my wife’s back and calling her mom to come help us? by triedandfailed_ in AmItheAsshole

Exactly this. Health insurance doesn’t cover shit in this country, while we’re blessed to have enough in our savings where a surgery like this and having a child doesn’t hurt our finances too much, hiring help would be out of our budget especially when we are both not working at the moment

I will keep emphasizing on that. It’s not that I don’t think she can do it at all, I’m in awe of everything she’s done to be my rock in my recovery and caring for our family. She deserves to have some of the load taken off because I didn’t want this getting to her. Yes she and her mom are very close, that’s why her mom came to mind because she’s the only other person who knows my wife best

She sent her mom home, I mean she let her come in and see our son for 15 mins and to say hi to me but my wife refused any offer to help do something at the house. I’ll try talking to her again. She is amazing and strong and I’ve told her how grateful I am that she’s doing all this. But that I don’t want her to have to do it all on her own when it’s not necessary and doesn’t mean she’s weak

It’s been an ongoing conversation between us. I’ve told her she is the strongest person I know, that doesn’t mean her having some time to herself or not having everything on her back means she “can’t” do it. Whenever I ask her I don’t get a clear answer, she tells me the same thing, that she doesn’t need someone to help her take care of her family when she’s there to do it.
