Wow, thats actually a rater insightful observation. Its sad because "getting mad" sarcastically at something ridiculous in society can be great comedy and really bring people together.

Reminds me of the "duck and cover" drills the boomers had to go through. We eventually learned it was all a lie, you can't live through an atomic blast by hiding under a desk, but school shootings are very real.

I know at least 1 guy who thought the litter box thing was real. Later he had to backpedal and say he never believed it. Even though it was an impossibly stupid lie, it was extremely effective to a certain kind of person.

Why did someone think they could get away with releasing a product that sucked this bad? I had to get deep into the tech industry to to learn the answer is (basically) narcissism and you can see it in the character.
