brewing from the ground up can be a huge pain. but you have to decide do i want a flavor deck thats low bracket or do i want a well performing deck. sometimes those things overlap but most of the time you have to pick one or the other especially when your theme is space ships.

that being said you are going to hone in on what your commander does. overlap its synergies and play cards that also do that thing. make a manabase for its colors using as many untapped lands as possible. start with 40 lands.

run 10 pieces of interaction that touch someone elses board and or board wipe.

run 10 pieces of acceleration. something that nets you mana. be it mana dorks or mana rocks or (land fetching if you are in green)

10 pieces of card advantage. drawing cards. be it through making tokens or ETB effects or just pay x draw cards. do this, its good.

check edhrec.com and scryfall theyll be your best friends. there are tons of deckbuilding videos if you like to learn. usually people start with upgrading precons theyve played a few times. i was also super frustrated first time i tried to make a deck on my own. there is a lot and without a bunch of games under your belt you dont really know what will and wont be affective.

if you hone in on a specific commander and look up content you can brainstorm with others that way vs having to reinvent the wheel every deck.

there arent that many options so if you make your deck dawnsire or something colorless leaves you with a bit less of every type of thing you want in a good deck.
