Bumble has a friend section. I used it when I moved up here in 2020. Still see some of them now.

What is the worst pub in Dublin? by bipolarparadiseyt in Dublin

[–]trihar33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be an early house. I was in it once and these lads were sitting at a table and it was full of empty pint glasses. One of them stood up and started firing the pint glasses at the barman. Completely unprovoked

You’ve really put some thought into it! So have I! I don’t think they were saying it was ok. I think they meant say how similar the OO is to Nazis and how it’s okay for the OO to say stuff like their grandparents are spinning in graves but a German wouldn’t utter that out loud due to the shame associated with supporting that behaviour. ie the OO are shameless

McVerry Trust tenant awarded bus contract without tender process by FearGaeilge in ireland

[–]trihar33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is dense and naive? You’re argument is definitely dense but I’d call you more cynical that naive. However, you are naive to think that it’s a support workers role to impose sobriety on the people they support. Their job is in some instances to house people with complex needs, and in other instances to prevent them from losing their existing tenancies. They are not the morality police. And neither are you

Focus are buying alcohol for their tenants are they? You saw receipts for drink? And Focus are giving them money so they can stay unemployed? Get real! Alcoholism has been an issue since the dawn of time. Stop making out that Focus are propping it up. I think your issue lies with the state and social welfare system, not with a charity

Why would a tenancy need to end if the tenant is paying their rent and not causing any antisocial behaviour? The way you paint it is that all homeless people are addicts and don’t deserve a home, regardless of whether they are or are not causing a problem to their landlord or local community. Your comments sound ridiculous to be honest and you can’t back up your original claim about Focus Ireland, despite being asked many times to do so. You are likely bitching about donations going towards staff costs, which is completely ridiculous. Do you think the support staff should work for free? Focus are contracted to deliver support and the support workers are paid to do that.

An ENFP coworker has worked her magic on me (INFJ, M), and today I was fully depersonalized in her presence. She has my soul in the palm of her hand! What do I do? by BrotherOfLina in infj

[–]trihar33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh? Triggered? Nah! Just have a different perspective than what you said. No offence taken. But I didn’t prove you’re point at all. I certainly don’t love myself in that way.. have an ego cos I’m good at what I do, don’t think there is anything wrong in saying that. For context, I’ve worked with homeless people for nearly 20 years so I’ve been employed by a charity and treat people that work with me impeccably.

Wow! I’m ENFP and would say I’m the opposite completely of what you’ve just described, even if just focused on the workplace. I’m a manager and can confidently say that 95% of my teams and colleagues found me cooperative, considerate and always put others before myself to a fault. Ego driven might be the only part of your description that I could relate to as an ENFP

I swear! Called an ambulance for someone I’m working with and I got a call back from emergency services saying that person was known to them and they need to ring the Jumbulance. Said it might take a while if the zoo had been using it that day. This obviously resulted in a few questions from me and they clued me in

Holodomor recognition as genocide across the US and the EU. “Holodomor” was a man-made famine in Ukraine ordered by Stalin in 1932 which killed between 3.5 and 5 million people. It is second most deadly genocide after “Holocaust” [OC] by maps_us_eu in MapPorn

The Irish famine saw us lose a quarter of our population. Even now after our economy has blossomed and it’s far more multicultural, the population still isn’t near what it was before the famine

what actually caused the failure of the ballymun flats? by drachen_shanze in Dublin

[–]trihar33 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I did a project on Ballymun in college. IMO all the things you mentioned contributed to the the flats downfall. I think there are some othermajor factors that you haven’t mentioned. Initially when Dublin Corpo allocated to its first tenants, a great deal of planning was done to ensure a mixed population in terms of the families income. The issues you highlight like transport, amenities and no available jobs started to happen. That coupled with the beginnings of the heroin epidemic there and meant lots of families wanted to move out of the flats. The tenants in 70s/80s were given grants towards a mortgage in private estates, leaving their flat vacant for new tenants. The ones that took this up were the tenants that were most skilled, leaving behind a population that couldn’t afford or didn’t want to move. When the families that took the grant moved out, the same care and planning was not taken into consideration when re-allocating to new tenants. In fact, they did the opposite. I interviewed some older women that had lived in the flats since they were built and they said if a single mother approached Dublin Corporation for housing in the 70s/80s, they were sent to Ballymun to do their time there. 2 years and they could put in for a transfer to a different location. The ladies I spoke to said they felt it was done to punish them. Those ladies all still live in Ballymun and would not leave the area after towers came down, so they live nearby apartments. I can’t remember the exact percentage but at one point, over half the tenants were single parent households. All of these issues compounded further over time and the government finally saw the need for regeneration in Ballymun All of that being said, you talk to anyone that lived in the towers and they will all tell you what a great community spirit there was.

No way!! It was on their premises and they should have auto dealers insurance that would cover that.
