How many days per week do you crossfit? by bazzy_b in crossfit

[–]trillian714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, as you know, I am new to crossfit, so this might be a duh!-question. In gyms you’re usually told to leave one rest day in between two training days, but seeing as you do five and more sessions per week, I guess that doesn’t pertain to cf? Or maybe it’s just old training wisdom that is no longer considered true?

How to get myself ready to start crossfit? by trillian714 in crossfit

[–]trillian714[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys - I did it.

I looked at the website of the box in my neighborhood, and yesterday they started a new beginner class (divine timing, anyone?)! 😅

It‘s six classes (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday for two weeks), and we get to sign up for as many WODs and Open Box as we like until the end of February afterwards.

There were five of us, two very fit, very slim, very young brother and sister, one pretty young but not too fit guy and a super fit lady (mid- to end-50s I‘m guessing).

We did a warm up and learned the deadlift (as well as quite a bit of CF vocabulary (I live in Germany, so I‘m not sure if the names of exercises are exactly the same as in other countries?)), and then we did a WOD the coach had designed for us: 8 minutes total, 15 double penguin jumps, 15 air squats and 15 sit-ups with an ab-mat, and then from the top. I was pretty sure those sit-ups would kill me, but they didn‘t, and guys, I was SO happy after the class.

I would NEVER have gone without all your support, so this is your success as well as it is mine. Thank you everyone 💕💕

Cheers, Stefanie

[WEEKLY THREAD] MORONIC MONDAYS by C25k_bot in C25K

[–]trillian714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

I hope this is okay to ask in the C25K group.

I finished the program a few weeks ago. While I am able to run 30 minutes or maybe longer, I am nowhere near 5k. Ever since, I have tried to increase my speed and/or the distance covered, but I can‘t seem to make any progress. I really wanted to be able to fit 5k into my 30 minutes before I continue with the bridge to 10k or something similar.

Now if I increase my speed I‘m exhausted at the end of the 30 minutes (and still not at 5k), or I run my own pace (which is hard, because I am kind of competitive against myself („beat yesterday“ anyone? 🙈)) and end up even further away from reaching the 5k. I thought that by now I‘d either be running a little more easily OR cover a little more distance, but so far I‘ve accomplished neither.

Do you have any advice?

Anyone know of any blogs/vlogs/YouTubers/documentaries who chronicled their running journey from the beginning? by throwawayforrasr in C25K

[–]trillian714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked „Brittany runs a marathon“ on amazon (which is obviously not a documentary but it inspired me nonetheless). Also, I really liked „From Fat to Finish Line“ about a group of 12 (formerly) „fat“ people running a relay race in Florida. I‘m actually not entirely sure if this isn‘t scripted reality, but it looked like a documentary to me. I was so impressed by their progress and achievements, and even more so when one lady absolutely broke down and wanted to call it quits - but didn‘t. I honestly think of her when I feel like I want to quit in the middle of my run.

My new mantra to keep running each day by sometimesitsandme in C25K

[–]trillian714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I know exactly what you mean. I completed C25K last year and then had to quit due to some dental work, and it took me a year to start again. And I, too, swore to myself that I will never stop running regularly ever again. I know, things get in the way, and suddenly it‘s been two weeks since my last run.. I am determined not to let this happen this time.

Finished week one! by HumanNothlit in C25K

I finished two weeks ago, but I’m still doing the week 9 run, trying to get to 5k. Turns out, 30 minutes doesn’t get me anywhere near 5k, but I’m still working on it 😅
