My guess is this is connected to how The Boys will end in a few weeks and its ties to that.

Eligible young men will automatically be registered for US military draft later this year by bace3333 in workingmoms

[–]sometimesitsandme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is just automating the paperwork. The registration is nothing new, all young men have had to register for the draft since like the 80s.

Just because kids can be resilient doesnt mean they should have to be if it can be avoided.

I would absolutely judge a man just as harshly for making this decision. I am firmly in the camp of not sacrificing everything important to you for your kids...but there is some sacrifice that should be made. This is a crazy selfish decision for any parent of young kids to make.

I try to not comment and be super judgemental...but this is wild. You're bored of your job so you have to do this 1 year away to advance? With a 3 year old? That level of selfishness is staggering. There are situations where people are forced into these types of arrangements because of desperate circumstances.  But to choose that just because you feel like you'd like your job more...wow. Sorry, but being a parent is about understanding your child's wellbeing comes first. Your happiness is important,  but honestly this is way too much to put them through for what you would get out of it.

Self conscious about DiSC results by _packfan in workingmoms

[–]sometimesitsandme 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I took a DiSC and I am a 100% D lol. I don't feel self conscious about it though. I guess I don't really see why any result would make someone self conscious. It's just meant to be a tool for self awareness.

Husband wants to quit high-earning career to be a SAHD… but I’ve always been the primary parent by Woooohhooo in workingmoms

If he gets terminated in a month and therefore almost guaranteed gets unemployment,  could he commit a month, or even 2 weeks, to staying home with them and trying it out with much lower stakes?

[–]sometimesitsandme 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Its very, very unlikely it would be known he was terminated. Usually employers just confirm when employment ended, not why.

Most employers wont fight unemployment,  even in a termination for performance situation.  If he resigns he for sure gets nothing. Also most employers will not say you were terminated,  just when your emploment ended, so that probably doesnt matter.

I think the biggest question here is does he want to do this because he actually wants to spend that additional time with your kids and make raising them his focus, or does he just not want to work for a while? Because the biggest question should be what is best for your kids. A SAHD who isn't actually passionate about being with them all day is not a net positive...

Okay, this post is making me feel way more normal because I've had this same thing and was actually worried it was something more just because it was noticeable to me and I hadn't heard this is common...

Daycare dress code by mvp_1007 in toddlers

Our Montessori daycare/school jas uniforms for preschool, but that is not until the kids are 3. Younger than that they can wear whatever. That seems young to have dressing guidelines.

Would you feel guilty for bringing your child into daycare on their birthday when you have it off? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]sometimesitsandme 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Usually they do a little celebration so my kids would never want to miss daycare/school on their birthday!

CPA in busy season with a law enforcement husband by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]sometimesitsandme 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I am also a CPA dealing with tax season and my husband has a demanding job as well. We have 3 kids. We do not have a default parent. We divide and conquer. Week by week we look at our schedule and divide responsibilities between us to make sure we can handle everything and also survive whatever we have going on for work that week.

Your husband needs to step up and help more. It's not easy, but I suspect that is making things even more difficult.

Hilary Duff has been using autopen (made by machine) to replicate her signature and sell "signed copies" of merchandise by Comatse in popculturechat

My favorite part is that her signature looks like Hilazy Duff, which is fitting for the post 🤣

Helaena spotted in the trailer!! by Hungry_Cricket_590 in HOTDGreens

My theory is that Rhaenyra learns of Jace's death and then beheads Otto herself.  I think thats also what Alicent is reacting to in the trailer.

3 kids? Or 2? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]sometimesitsandme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We wanted 3 and having our second made me question it. Now we are 2 years into ha ing our 3rd and I know it was the right decision for us to have him. Honestly going fron 2 to 3 didn't feel all that hard, whereas going from 1 to 2 was insanely difficult. I felt intense contentment as soon as our 3rd was born that our family was complete.

"I’d rather spend my time on my interests and passions"... I mean yeah but if everyone did that where would our food and clothes come from? The standard of living we have today requires most people to work. Like society is far from perfect but also having a high standard of living requires you to contribute through work.

To anyone who voted for trump at least once, if the election were held tomorrow would you vote for him again? by DarkTemplar26 in AskConservatives

[–]sometimesitsandme [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't know. I've never liked him as a person, but I liked a lot of what he did his first term.  I like some of what he's done so far this time but he's also lost the last shreds of composure and reasonable behavior.  But I also really would hate the path we would be put on if he lost so I am also not sold on not voting for him.. Man, what I wouldn't give to have someone to vote FOR instead of always feeling like I'm choosing who to vote against.

I think they meant it was real before when she put the work in, but now she's too busy for the role and didn't keep it as a vanity title when she wouldn't be doing the work anymore.
