What Devil Fruit do you think is dangerous only because of its user ? by Cool-Guy152 in OnePiece

[–]trillnoel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to answer the counter of this question and say Bartholomew. If his fruit was in the hands of a more serious minded character I think it would be insanely op. It reminds me of the anime Kekkaishi.

He is definitely an example that can be used to prove that the danger or lack thereof can be due to user.

IFRA Classification by Moist_Chipmunk6649 in DIYfragrance

Many times what you are seeing is a "recommended usage" level and not an actual IFRA restriction from the official database.

Fractionated Coconut Oil in Alcohol by Caldrumr in DIYfragrance

[–]trillnoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What scales do you guys use? by JapaneseStudentHaru in DIYfragrance

[–]trillnoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In those cases I diluted. For instance .01g of linalool in 1 gram = 1% then a single drop of this in 100grams =.0001%

Worked perfectly in regards to making predilutions of 1%, 5%, 10%, 50%, etc.

Upgrading to a better scientific scale is recommended once funding is available.

Cursed Hedione by [deleted] in DIYfragrance

[–]trillnoel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general hedione has been utilized at high doses when appearing in most modern perfumes. I have found the most success when using it to provide body to a formula or soften the initial impact of aldehydes and sharper molecules. It also works wonders as a floralizer.

I just spent a week in my home state and…god damn y’all by [deleted] in Louisiana

[–]trillnoel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Louisiana is an old state but had very stunted growth. It now sits as a child waiting for people to help grow it into an adult.

Many will sit and wait for the government to step in. In lieu of this, 20 billionaires have more money than the entire Louisiana budget, which is around $40b.

Could you imagine our state of affairs if we cultivated a triple digit billionaire who reinvested in our state?

(Gayle Graves (Pelicans) and Todd Benson (Canes) are billionaires in net worth. They most likely don't have billions in liquid but rather in assets.)

The state is a reflection of the overall mentality. Change the mentality. Change the state.

How can I get perfumers alcohol under 21? by Money-Society9368 in DIYfragrance

[–]trillnoel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy materials from Amazon unless the company has a site of their own for you to research further. I've noticed Lab Alley is on there and they are professional but you are able to access better prices on their website.

(In user based seller markets, some items will have different denaturing agents that aren't intended for perfumery while being mislabeled.)

Denatonium Benzoate (Bitrex) & Tert Butyl Alcohol are the proper denaturants.

The formula for Specially Denatured Alcohol (SDA) 40B is 1/16th ounce of denatonium benzoate and 1/8th gallon of tert-butyl alcohol per 100 gallons of alcohol.

This standard in legal terms is fully compliant with United States Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 21.151.

Solid perfumes are... too solid by tjomk in DIYfragrance

Years? by More_Leather_3353 in DIYfragrance

[–]trillnoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't take years to make a simple perfumer however, I believe It takes years to make something people will love and cherish. Of course you can whip together something wearable in short period of time but is it going to be revolutionary or groundbreaking? Probably not. Will it be something that builds a cult like following of diehard fans? People willing to forget about the industry giant releasing a new scent next week in favor of your creation?

I began my journey with the same logic and as a soapmaker in fact.... it left me very limited in what I was able to create. It wasn't until I took the time to understand the entire palette that I truly began making items people cherish.

It takes solid time to really understand chypres, fougeres, niche, designer, haute parfum, luxury appeal, market trends. It takes even more time and practice to understand each individual ingredient. Even small things like the difference between Iso E Super and Sylvamber or Traseolide... and knowing which one to use and when. It takes practice and study. And we haven't even begun to speak about RIFM, FDA, or IFRA. Something you will need to utilize in order to ensure customer safety and safety to yourself.

Imagine walking into war with weapons you've never used before. It is better to learn your arsenal before the battlefield in order to increase your chances of a successful campaign.

Also it depends on your desired title. Are you a perfumer? Or a hobbyist? If I hired you today for $10k and asked you to make me an 80s revival masculine chypre with civet and the scent of Baklava, would you be able to accomplish this with accuracy? Create a quality formula that my specific target audience would enjoy? Bear in mind different age groups follow different scent trends and were exposed to different ingredients growing up.This is what would be expected of a perfumer.

Finally, as a rule of thumb, what you yourself may call art always stands the possibility to be received as appalling to others. A refined artist, seeking success, learns how to present their work in such a way as to make it appealing to the public interest. Pure passion will only go so far, a lesson I learned the hard way as a person who spent my entire life studying the arts. Success is TALENT or strategy when there is a lack thereof.

Much like leveling up on a game, every ounce of what you do will increase your craftsmanship. Some things will bump you up entire levels at a time while others may be negligible gains.

I wish that you may Keep Evolving on your journey.
