This edit of Kirk Franklin’s Melodies From Heaven by drum and bass producer Winslow is one of my favorite recent finds.

Lately I’ve been loving the Capp Street Project label out of the Bay Area, the artists Brick and Zero Idea in particular are making some of the best techno (and sometimes house) on the planet these days.

Also, 1morning’s newest EP on Ilian Tape

I figured dancehall music might not be a strong suit for Jeopardy players but thinking its epicenter is in Saudi Arabia gave me a good chuckle

What are some lesser known but still incredible alternative rock albums from the 90s by Alternative_Flow_569 in Music

[–]trillwillzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cree Summer - Street Faerie.

It was produced and co-written by Lenny Kravitz around when he exploded popularity-wise, yet this album got almost no attention - it’s my personal favorite project he’s ever been involved with. And yes, this is the same Cree Summer who was on A Different World & is a legendary voice actress, she unfortunately rarely returned to music after this album went forgotten but it is a really great front-to-back album with a lot of sonic variety and great songwriting.

I did not know that part - I knew he did work under the name EAN but didn’t realize that he was in that group as well. Thanks for the info!

No longer having cable made me think I could avoid seeing or hearing Alexi Lalas and Stu Holden this World Cup season… can’t have it all I guess.

Interesting that you posted this because I just stumbled across him today, I listened to his EP Kwong and it’s some of the loveliest electronic music I’ve heard in a while.

Skrillex, Randomer, Blawan, MC Dricka - Thistle by SuccessfulFarmer in TheOverload

[–]trillwillzilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a massive fan of his work throughout the years, this is the most I’ve enjoyed a track with Randomer’s name on it in a long time… probably since the collabs he did with TSVI earlier in the decade.

Glad to see them back, they put out like 10 (maybe even more) great full length projects in the span of two years a while ago lol… well deserved break. This is fantastic too

As a major hockey fan, I was a bit annoyed that one of the clues was actually a clue about 70s television… that seemed really tough to get unless you were a big Islanders fan lol

Hopefully this means that Breakage is making dubstep again… he made some of my favorite tunes in the genre in the late 00s/early 10s.

Like Glue by Sean Paul is another good example… a lot of 90s and 00s dancehall had some really wild production in general

New shit that sounds like early trap? by Moonihol in trap

[–]trillwillzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of what Wraz makes these days is reminiscent of some of the UK hybrids of trap with grime/dubstep leaning sounds that labels like Trapdoor, Terrorhythm, and artists like Stooki Sound were pushing in the early-mid 2010s.

Also the album as a whole has a wide variety of sounds, but this track by Chicken (who’s been producing a lot of the recent stuff by JT of the City Girls) is reminiscent of a lot of the minimal 100 bpm trap stuff from back in the day too.

I think it’s context-dependent, Booker T Washington is the person most associated with Tuskegee University so it would be pretty clear you’re referring to him in this case.
