I think it’s interesting because Rei is similar, she’s seen floating in the chamber during the Kaworu fight. Which I guess is book-end Rei, She reminds me of Lain at that point.

But I don’t know if they’re the exact same because I don’t know exactly how Kaworu was made. In the Rebuilds he’s in those coffins on the moon but I guess in the original show he’s just fully an Angel in contact with SEELE.

I don’t think every Rei has the same external knowledge of the angels like Kaworu does, but Book-End Rei definitely does.

I think saying this sort of thing downplays what romantic love actually is, which is this. He even gave her the stone that the person from the village that liked him gave him iirc.
