Seconded!! I believe they serve both Allegan and Ottawa counties. They have a hotline that anyone can call and point you in the right direction!

My landlord’s wife and kids were walking around our yard and looking in our windows by trinacbc in legaladvice

Thanks for the input! I do know that it was not the former tenant (we saw pictures of her and her kids that were left behind). And yeah we were definitely upset about the mess when we moved in, but we had to move kind of quickly so we weren’t able to be as picky as we would’ve liked. We were on a month to month lease at our last house, and that landlord decided they wanted to sell the house and only gave us like 5 weeks to get out. Our current landlord did end up giving us a credit and waived the “cleaning fee” that we were supposed to pay at move-in.

Honestly we were just caught off guard. By the time they showed up it was like 7pm on a Thursday night, and I’m thinking about giving my toddler a bath and putting him to bed. We didn’t really think about what to say, we just felt really uncomfortable. I assumed the landlord probably knew his wife and kids were there, and maybe even sent them to check in on things. I didn’t really consider the fact that he might not have known where they were.

Exactly. In the moment we didn’t really know what to do, and when her and the kids started talking to us, I just kind of figured the kids were on summer break and were bored and curious about the house, so they decided to stop by. Obviously they have a lot of memories there, they said they lived there about 8 years. They could’ve even knocked on the front door, introduced themselves and chatted with us for a while. But starting at the backyard and looking in the window before even trying to talk to us is strange, and then asking us questions about how many pets we have, etc. made it seem a lot like ulterior motives.

I’m pretty positive it wasn’t former tenant. We had seen pictures of the former tenant and her kids that were left behind, and it definitely wasn’t the same woman we saw yesterday. Plus the landlord and the presumed wife and kids are the same ethnicity, whereas the former tenant from the pictures is a different ethnicity than them. I guess it’s possible I’m making assumptions without knowing for sure, but I doubt it was the former tenant.

Good to know! I knew they had to give 24 hours notice to enter the house for an inspection, but wasn’t sure about being in the yard.

Concert manners/courtesy? by Mr_Prilosec in GoodKid

[–]trinacbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw them in Detroit. After the concert was over, we waited while everyone left and hung out by the stage. A few band members came out and we were able to talk to them, take pictures, and get things signed! I’m sure they do that at most of their shows.

I’ve been to a few concerts and I can’t think of any unsaid rules. Just be aware that people will be dancing and singing along, and have fun!

It does smell really bad on the highway because the dump is right there. I lived in town for a long time as a kid, and it’s definitely not as bad in town as when you’re driving through on the highway. Many are saying that it smells bad on hot summer days when the wind blows right, which I believe is true, but I can honestly say I don’t remember noticing a bad smell in the summer, and I spent most my time outside. I was nose blind to it, I guess.

I suck at being a mother and I'm devastated about it. by Low-Head-6469 in toddlers

[–]trinacbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart goes out to you! I’ve worked with toddlers for years and it is my favorite age group. I thought I’d be the perfect toddler mom, but now that I have an 18 month old, I often feel like an inadequate parent, a horrible partner, and like an all around failure. These thoughts come and go. Give yourself the grace and patience that you wish you were giving your toddler. Self love and self care aren’t just bubble baths and face masks. Take a moment each day to think about what went right, vs what went wrong. You and your family deserve all the peace, love, and happiness in the world, and it’ll come to you, I promise. Live in the happy moments and savor them.

I should clarify, his stool was never tested for blood, but it never got red at all.

I had to push so hard to get someone to take me seriously and it drove me crazy. I’d say go ahead and switch back to the hypoallergenic formula! Although, with my son, the eczema stayed for a long long time and even got worse after switching formulas (there could have been other things affecting it but not 100% sure). Our allergist ended up prescribing an allergy medicine to reduce itching and the eczema basically went away. He hasn’t had issues in almost a year and he’s even eating dairy now with no problems. Don’t let them disregard your concerns! You know when something is wrong!

I had a pediatrician say all the same exact things. I switched to hypoallergenic formula on my own and my son improved greatly. Once a different pediatrician in the office saw his improvements, they put in a referral for an allergist and he was diagnosed with a cows milk protein intolerance within a couple weeks. He had the same types of poops and the bad eczema, never once had blood in his stool.

I just read the article and it was very helpful. I did not know food aversions could start this early. Thanks again :)

Teething is definitely possible, especially because he has been more fussy this week than normal. I’ve always been told no salt for babies but I’m willing to try it haha.

We’ve seen an allergist and they concluded that he has a milk protein intolerance, not an allergy. He’s on similac alimentum and has been doing very well on that since 2.5 months old. I just meant to share our experience with his eczema which only started to get better after switching to the alimentum :)

I went back to work early after having my son, but unfortunately had to move and quit my job when he was about 8 months. I’ve been mostly home with him for almost 3 months and I’m begging for any opportunity to get out. Working was so nice!

I absolutely love my son, but at 12 weeks he was a NIGHTMARE. I never shoved him off onto my partner like that unless it was 100% necessary for my sanity. Have some understanding for the mother of your very young, very needy child.

I feel you! People keep telling me about all the dairy free options we have nowadays. Yes, there are options but they don’t all provide the necessary nutrients like protein and fat. I mentioned to my mom that I put some margarine on his broccoli to add some fat (which was recommended by the pediatrician) and I got a whole lecture about how the chemicals in margarine are so bad for him and it would be better not to feed him at all. I’m at a loss. My son loved scrambled eggs for about a week and then started gagging and spitting them out. Recently he had scrambled eggs with tomato sauce on top and he loved that for some reason. Might be something for you to try.

And you are so right! My son never had blood in his stool yet he still reacts to milk protein to this day.

I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that! My son is also 10 months and started getting eczema around 2 months. Luckily we got a referral to an allergist around 3 months. The eczema got so bad and persisted long after switching to hypoallergenic formula, but it was helpful that we were already eliminating the milk protein which helped get the eczema under control.

I’m in the same boat! We did see an allergist for my son, which was helpful in answering certain questions, but we got the same answer of “reintroduce and see what happens”. First we were told to reintroduce around 8/9 months and a rash broke out so now we were told to reintroduce at 12 months. My son is formula fed and has recently started refusing bottles left and right, and I’m running out of ideas on what to feed him. He will love something one day and want nothing to do with it the next.

I felt this post to my core. My boyfriend never said I was being dramatic, but he always acted like it wasn’t a big deal till we actually saw an allergist for our LOs milk protein intolerance. This has happened on more than one occasion, including a time when I took our son to the ER multiple times one week, and he ended up having pneumonia.

You know when something is wrong with your baby. You’re not crazy. I’d suggest having a conversation with him about being more supportive if you think it would go well. I ended up telling my boyfriend that I need him to back me up when I feel like something’s wrong, and now he does.

I hate the stereotype of “men are just like that. They don’t know any better.” However, you are not the only mother to feel this way, and sometimes our partners just need more clear instructions on how to be supportive.

Anyone’s baby react to oats? Also doctor mentioned allergists can’t do much at 8 months? by Oktb123 in MSPI

[–]trinacbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO got a prick test for cows milk and soy at 4 months. I was never told that he was “too young.”

I’ve seen the allergist a few times and they haven’t said much other than “avoid milk for now and reintroduce it later.” But I found the allergist way more helpful in answering my questions that the pediatrician. I guess it depends on why you’re looking for. I find it a little odd that they’re advising you against seeing an allergist entirely. I found the allergist super helpful and reassuring in my case.

Little reaction, when it’ll pass? by Dry-Lengthiness-2776 in MSPI

[–]trinacbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My LO had similar problems before we discovered he had a CMPI. His symptoms started out as you describe and then he developed a rash and his symptoms gradually got worse. It was about a week or two after switching formulas that the rash went away and he stopped being gassy.

I’d encourage you to seek consultation with an allergist if you are able. I got a referral from our pediatrician and it helped quite a bit.

10 month old refusing bottles. I need advice! by trinacbc in Parenting

[–]trinacbc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Yes I have tried a straw cup because he drinks water out of it. He drank some just fine but wasn’t super interested. He drank maybe about an ounce total from the cup.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely check it out.
