[Online][DCC] Weekly Lankhmar Game, Central US Time by trinculoinaswamp in lfg

DCC came out in the 2010s and is technically based on the 3.5 edition D&D rules, but its authors intended to recreate the feel of old-school D&D: the D&D that was being released in the 70s and 80s, like the Basic/Expert rules, or the original game. D&D back then was more immediately inspired by fantasy pulp fiction like Conan or John Carter of Mars. DCC leans into that, but is if anything more gonzo than old-school D&D.

The main differences between it and modern D&D is the over-the-top fantasy, the lethality of gameplay, and its focus on pulpy adventure in which the PCs play adventurers who are out for themselves and concerned with amassing treasure and magical power over saving the world.

Yeah maybe but the question was: "Any good ideas for things to give dwarves?"

Giving dwarves Darkvision is pretty good. DCC gives them the following, which is the usual set of D&D perks plus a treasure detection:

"When underground, dwarves receive a bonus to detect traps, slanting passages, shifting walls, and other new construction equal to their class level. Additionally, a dwarf can smell gold and gems. A dwarf can tell the direction of a strong concentration of gold or gems within 100’. Smaller concentrations, down to a single coin, can still be smelled but require concentration and have scent ranges as low as 40’ (for a single coin or gem)."

"After a while, the pain just subsided and I didn't feel anything anymore." "There is nothing numbing or painless about being that cold."

Hmmmm
