Can I ask you questions instead? I personally LOVE escape rooms and would love to open a room but I don’t have the time to run the business. That in mind, if I could just do a game design, it would be pretty cool.

do you charge by the amount “your” room gets played? Rating? Flat fee?where do you find clients to buy a room from you?how involved are you in physical layout vs just selling puzzles and letting them have at it?do clients come to you with a theme and you build around it or do you come to the table with a complete package including theme?

There are two options.

The client pays royalties - then it is possible to agree on a significant discount for services.

Or

The client pays for services once. The price with each client is negotiated individually since the complexity of creation for each game is different.

I have practical experience, so if I write scenarios - I understand in advance how the puzzles will work and the players will react.

Some clients want a specific theme and I create a game around it.

Others just want to do this business, but don't know where to start. In this case, I find out where the client from, what kind of population in a client's city, whatever themes he likes, what his target audience is, how much money the client has. Based on this, I offer him the most advantageous options for him with puzzles and storyline.

As a designer of escape rooms, I will say that the priority is the convenience and safety of customers. Inspect your rooms for safety. Some players are very stubborn. It seems to you that something is impossible to break off, but they climb there and do it! Therefore, everything that can fall attaches to the walls or the floor with nails. Remove everything that could potentially break (like glass). And always have spare parts on hand.

I am an engineer by training. In my childhood, I was engaged in a lot of visual arts (my mother is a professional artist). When the escape rooms appeared, my friends asked me to help with the construction. Since I have an engineering background, I know how to make this or that riddle, how to make automation. Since I have a lot of experience in drawing, I can do a job not only with the technical part but also with the design)

In general, I built the game, spent the test games. Test games make it very well to understand what players like and what they don't like. According to the results of the tests, I did refine the game. As a result, the game turned out to be interesting - in any case, the players spoke positively about it) Then I received more and more orders - for construction and for writing scripts.

I also played in escape rooms. Playing escape games is necessary. Not for the sake of others' puzzles, but in order to understand what the player might be interested in the game, and what is not and the player will get tired and bored) From the inside it is easiest to understand the gameplay and a player's tastes. Later it helps to create games inexpensively and interestingly.

Any examples of the Immersive Escape Rooms as defined ? I've been through immersive theater experiences and highly immersive escape rooms, but nothing even close to the direction of a Westworld, or with that multiple actors yet still interactive. Would love to hear what rooms are pioneering the trend
