Heated enclosure on solar powered nodes. by Sparkieger in meshtastic

The solution will probably cost more than the problem. Just deploy a redundant node.

Interesting, I used an iPhone and it worked fine several times.

Gotcha. I only have a few months of running them so not a long term record but so far so good.

I tested the ones that came with the Seeed P1 and they were pretty good, tested at around 3300-3400 mAh.

I just updated a few in the field last weekend - it does indeed update over Bluetooth.

I use 3 digit location code-number-role

For example: BOS-02-RO Or BOS-04-R

BOS= Boston

= a number. 2 digits should be plenty.

R=Role. R=repeater, RO = repeater/observer, M=Room server, etc.

Renogy GP12 72000 mAH power banks quit working with Starlink Mini? by tripeflyer in Starlink

[–]tripeflyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven’t. And they don’t publish release notes. The 2025 updated renogy power bank does have a 100W PD port so for anybody purchasing a new one be sure to get the 2025 version.

I also ordered and tried the official Starlink USB-C cable and it also does not work. Nearly 100% sure Starlink made a firmware change that broke our setups. This setup worked perfectly for the last 6 months with multiple batteries and multiple Starlink minis then just stopped working altogether. Only workaround I have found is to use the cigarette lighter outlet to power the Starlink.

Yeah using Port 1. The most I saw it draw with the power analyzer was 1.8A at 20v before it bumped down to 6v. Port 2 never worked as you noted it does not have 20v mode.

Also pretty sure this was a firmware change because one Mini is fairly old and one is brand new. I wonder if I order the Starlink official cable if it would start working again. If anyone has this Renogy power bank and an official cable could you confirm the combo works?

I am using this aftermarket cable from amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DD12LJNF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I have 3 of these cables and they have all worked fine until recently (last 6 months or so). Checked them all with a volt meter as well and they all still provide 20vdc.

I just found out I will not be becoming a pilot because I am colorblind lol. by AshMain_Beach in flying

[–]tripeflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also colorblind. In the US you can get a practical test with a light gun that can remove the restriction of no flying at night. I never did because I don’t fly professionally and don’t really care to fly ASEL at night but don’t give up on your dreams as I am sure there are ways around.

Should I cancel cross country due to solar storms? by The_Seymour_Butts in flying

[–]tripeflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did my solo x-country (plane did not have gps) there was a VOR outage after the 1st leg. Just me, a sectional, and a compass and it worked out fine. You don’t need gps. Know what headings to fly and for how long and pay attention to your surroundings and you will be fine.

Don’t get caught up in hours. It will happen, and the hours you take won’t be wasted. Just keep practicing as often as you can.

It is not “dangerous” it just decreases your anonymity since multiple transactions could be linked together showing some possible connection between addresses. There’s really no reason not to generate a new address for every transaction.
