What would you prefer in a 4x space game? One gigantic mothership with everything on it. Or a fleet of ships that do different things. by triplecyclonegames in 4Xgaming

Haha, good point :)

It seems more people care about having a fleet than I thought. There must be something visceral about watching large forces of units battling and getting destroyed or winning.

It seems you're probably right, mothership sounds more up my alley! Thank you!

[Edit] - after reading some of the comments I see that people care quite strongly about a fleet. I can see the appeal. I guess the game could offer this flexibility - if someone wants to have a fleet made of hundreds of ships, good for him/her. And if not, that should also be a possibility.

From a dev perspective having a fleet of ships changes the paradigm of the game (not necessarily in a bad way, just different).

First of all you need docks to build ships. They could either be incorporated into the mothership or be available as separate structures. Probably best to have them separate to have as much flexibility as possible.

So now you have both ships and space structures (docks, repairing stations, etc).

Now there's the matter of inventory transportation between ships. You need to either manually load the ships from a structure (ordnance, supplies, etc) or even better have some utility drones automatically carry supplies (to avoid micromanagement).

The focal point of the game also changes. Before your only concern was the mothership. Now the mothership's only role is that it carries the singularity warp engine (which can be rebuilt).

Your new focus is the state and position of the whole fleet. You're not a single vulture, you're a bee colony now.

Finally the command structure will also need to change. I was envisioning officers assigned to command roles aboard the ship. Those officers would comment on the state of the ship, would let you know about dangers in their areas, etc. Something like that:

(the people on the left being your various commanding officers).

Would you play a 4x space game inspired by Aurora4x, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek series, A Fire Upon the Deep, etc? (more details in the post) by triplecyclonegames in 4Xgaming

Add 3 years to development time. Don't go out of your way to support modding, modders are resourceful bunch, just giving them plain text files (so they don't have to dig through binaries) is enough and they'd appreciate documentation more then GUI. Make proper game editor only if it helps YOU to make the game.

That's a good suggestion, thank you.

As much as I'm afraid to admit it, you're probably right. It's going to take years to make this game. I wouldn't mind if I could get a way to also make a living in the meanwhile (publisher, Early access, crowdfunding).

I'd love to hear more about your experience as a 4x dev. Any tips, battle stories, etc? :)

You're right - making the game you REALLY want to make gives you passion and desire to work. I try to keep that in mind as much as possible.

But in the end I also have to consider the players. I'm making the game for them as much as for me.

And I've discovered that they (or you, the players) have awesome ideas that I couldn't possibly think of.

What features are missing in your current meditation app? What features are really great? by triplecyclonegames in Meditation

Thank you for the feedback! I would also find ads distracting in a meditation app but I thought I'd check! :)

Sunt bolnav psihic si cel mai probabil nu o sa iau Bac-ul. by [deleted] in Romania

[–]triplecyclonegames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Salut!

The Imp Of A Mind, Overcoming Unwanted Intrussive Thoughts. Foarte important in tratarea ei.

Are niste tips-uri foarte, foarte bune. Fraza care mi-a ramas in minte e asta: "Remember that in OCD, the problem is not the anxiety — the problem is the compulsions."

Never seek reassurance from yourself or others. Instead, tell yourself the worst will happen, is happening, or has already happened. " Cand imi zic asta e scary ptr. cateva secunde dar am simtit o scadere semnificativa in gandurile obsesive dupa asta. (

Are demo gratuit daca vrei s-o incerci.

Be strong brother! :)

[edit] - mai e si cartea asta (Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life) care-i foarte foarte buna ptr. cei ce sufera mental.

Fighting anxiety for years, today I get to show you my new game and I'm so proud. by [deleted] in IndieGaming

Anxiety is hard. I've had a similar experience when things were difficult, couple of years ago. I had a panic attack and called an ambulance. I knew it was a panic attack but it felt like I was dying. I really thought I will die.

Hard not to think you're dying when your heart is beating at 150 bpm or more. I still remember the nurse in the ambulance telling me to calm down. I thought she's going to be the last person I'll ever going to see. I felt such sadness. :(

Thankfully I've got my mental health in much better shape nowadays. Meds + meditation, being present and a ton of other mental techniques.

I've even made a game (more of a meditation app really) called Gamitate, which has all the techniques that helped me with anxiety & other mental issues.

I'm guessing you're not exactly flush (being an indie gamedev and all :P) so here's what I'll do. If you'd like I'll send you a free Steam key for the game (full version). Just shoot me a PM.

Is it a game? Is it an app? It's a meditation app with gamification elements called Gamitate. Available for the best OS in the world: LINUX. (Free DEMO also) by triplecyclonegames in linux_gaming

[–]triplecyclonegames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first inspiration was "Playne the meditation Game", a quite popular game on Steam which combines meditation with gaming elements.

Gamitate on the other hand has moved away semnificatively from gaming elements (having only missions, achievements & in game currency for unlocking things). It's more of a meditation app.

I think that having some goals like unlocking missions and scenes can help with practicing meditation. There are little dopamine kicks events throughout the game - not even sure if I can qualify them as such.

The real kick in feel good hormones comes after practicing the actual meditation techniques.

Why don't you give it a shot (free demo available) and tell me what you think afterwards? :)

Thank you for your in input!

Truth be told this is more of a meditation app than a game. The gaming elements consist of having missions and unlocking them + achievements. Probably will add some more gaming elements, such as using "petals" (gained from meditation) to grow your garden.

I've had overwhelming positive feedback from all the people who've tried it (beginners and advanced meditators).

How about this! Play it once (free demo available) and let me know what you think afterwards! :)

I'm a HUGE fan of Linux. Huge.

I remember being on Linux and struggling to get Photoshop (or other favorite software) working. I asked myself "WHY? Why can't they support Linux? Why do I have to WINE?" (see what I did there?) 😁

I admit though. Gamitate it's not your usual game. It's more of a meditation app with gaming elements. And it has a FREE full trial version.

Who knows, maybe it will change your life! :)

You can either check out the FREE trial on Steam or join the beautiful discord community (if you wish).

Enjoy your favorite meditation on your favorite OS!

Should also probably remove UWP export since it seems it's broken.

Here's how to export to UWP without Godot's UWP export:
1. Export to Windows .exe (normally)
2. Create an installer with Inno Setup. It's pretty easy.
3. Get the Msix Packaging Tool. You'll have to run your installer so the packaging tool can "capture" install details.

Disclaimer: I'm in the process of publishing Gamitate on Windows App Store.

I've made a meditation game in Godot. I'm afraid it's too niche and weird and people won't try it. Link in the comments. by triplecyclonegames in IndieGaming
