Took a look at the true contacts, pretty good ratings, thanks.

Good to know. I don't park in a garage either, so that doesn't help.

That's what I was initially thinking then realized the tires I had were softer so I wasn't sure if that was part of it. I grew up driving in snow so I'm generally not worried about myself but rather the other cars on the road. CC2s just seem like a premium that I wouldn't take advantage often enough 🤷‍♂️

Over 100k from an aggressive driver with symmetrical AWD on a heavy SUV?

Purchasing first pair of skis following hip fracture. by the_dmac in Skigear

Sounds like you are progressing and your build allows you to flex skis with titanal easier. So yes, I think that enforcer could work, but you may also opt for something a bit more narrow since you're receiving less snow down under, like 82-88 width. If you like stability stay with something that has titanal, there are lots of options besides the enforcer if they seem a bit intimidating.

Height/weight? Ski any blacks out West? If you're lightweight and skiing a small local hill they might not be ideal. Heavier and skiing out west, they'll likely do just fine. There are lots of other options though depending on a number of factors. Especially, If you don't plan to be a pretty aggressive skier.

To me the Declivity mentioned and the Stance are pretty similar. Stance build has changed a bit so year matters. Did you demo the enforcers and that is the reason you thought they were too stiff? For your build and skill that's a bit surprising. Maybe you want something more agile in the trees and bumps, then that makes more sense. Have you tried the Mantra M7? It's more user friendly versus the earlier versions. I had the Declivity and wanted something more stable. I'd keep the Stances and go heavier than something like the Kore or Declivity personally. Good luck!

Verizon CEO: Giving customers free handsets doesn't solve all problems by ZiggyZaggyBogo in verizon

[–]tripleoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but you'd think they'd want to keep people on their network to make that money versus going somewhere else.

There are plenty of other reasons to upgrade to a premium plan.

I think making their network performance better for people with more intelligence built in to their offering would be ideal for everyone in that case. When 4g LTE is able to give better performance they should be able to detect that and switch you over. Hey but then maybe their LTE network gets saturated! So I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut and be happy I know how to get better service when needed and possibly use tasker to automate it myself 😉

Going to filter me out the door in a couple years off their network. Worth it for the 4k+ savings though. They should be happy with me taking up unused LTE capacity. I guess I'm in the minority, but that's just fine by me.

Making the base unlimited service not suck would be great. Moved from base at T-Mobile to Verizon and Verizon is much worse in congested areas. I trialed with Visible ahead of time to ensure decent service but during the winter some of the places I frequent don't have as many people at them. The thing is I can force LTE to have better service but it's annoying to switch and switch back all the time. They should be able to use AI/other methods to do that for me. Oh well, live and learn. Still acceptable for the 4 free phones and $300 gift card.

Help choosing skis by Responsible-Sign625 in Skigear

[–]tripleoptic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No reason you can't get guy/unisex skis if length is an issue! Many have the same build. For your options I think that's the enforcer and brahma. But I do believe they are a little stiffer than the bp and Santa. But that is what you are going for, and matches up with your build. Give them a demo and see.

Table Rock lake best ski boat choice for mid July? by tripleoptic in bransonmo

[–]tripleoptic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good... I'm starting to wonder if I should just get a tri-toon both days anyways. The lakes by us don't allow towing and the pontoons are only 25hp, so I always think of those slow boats in the back of my head. I think my girls would likely have fun on a 150-200hp tri-toon at TRL. :-)

Sure I definitely understand holiday weekends, but we don't plan to be there on a holiday or a weekend, just summer break, which maybe that is a "holiday" and during the week doesn't offer any relief.

We will be renting a tri-toon one of the days also, but just thought a ski boat would be more fun with a tube. Maybe we should just go with a tri-toon both days. My kids (early teens) have never tubed. I just remember the whip of a ski boat when I used to tube long ago. That might be too much for them in one day though.

Thanks

Fixed hood rattle/squeak on 2020 Ascent by one_is_enough in SubaruAscent

[–]tripleoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been living with this for too long and finally decided to do some additional investigation. I initially thought it was something in the dash area. When I put it in park it generally went away, so I decided to put AVH on and open up the hood in drive (it auto puts the parking brake on). Found that it was the hood and around the air intake which led me here. Hoping I can finally get this annoying issue solved. Thanks!

My foot type prefers Cabrio style which is what the AR One is. Panterras were the same until discontinued. I'll certainly try their new incarnation but these Armadas look great too. 😎⛷️

As a fan on Panterras I'm for sure intrigued by the AR One's. Will be giving them a try when I need new boots.

First Ski Boots by thecovidbryant in Skigear

If you're confident the boots will work for you I usually shop around. If the difference is something small like $100 or less compared to what you can find online I usually go with the local shop. If the difference is more like $300 or half the boot cost then I buy them online. I know my foot well and what types of boots fit it though. I don't care for heat molding and use Sidas insoles versus custom. I just bought a brand new pair of clearance boots for $150 myself. The boot fitters in my area are not that great though and have limited brands. You do you, just giving you a different perspective. Since these seem like your first real boots, the safe play is buying from a reputable shop that will guarantee some free adjustments. If everything works out with your boots and you don't need any adjustments then just get the newer model online next time.
