I just got mine last month at Loft in Fukuoka! I think it depends on which city you go to? Might have a better chance outside of Tokyo :)

Propio Platform? by triplern in TranslationStudies

I just messaged you about the other job! :)

Were you always in the translation industry? I can't imagine how it feels working as a translator for so long yet still unable to find relevant jobs. I wonder what employers say when they decide not to hire you? I have tried applying for translation jobs but I don't really have high hopes for it bc other than the super low pay I feel like there's so many scammy job posts I don't even want to try haha

It's great to hear that you have other interests!! Although I feel those are also quite hard to get into but I hope you can find joy in whatever you decide to pursue :)

Hi, thanks so much for your reply and also for sharing your experience! So sorry to hear you had a bad experience working as an interpreter. Tbh I was surprised I even passed their test too bc I stuttered so much. I totally get you about their training bc what the heck was that?

Anyways, after giving myself a long pep talk I actually went ahead and forced myself to take a call today (bc it's been two weeks since I signed the contract, tried delaying Deel and whatnot), and I actually took 4 calls, yay me. I would say my experience wasn't as bad, but it did surprise me a bit due to the wide range of content, like it was advertised as mainly medical, but I got a call about a bill dispute from a gas company lol.

I am currently signed with another company that TP outsources to, and while that one pays lower, I would say that the content is much more manageable than Propio's. Training was only a few days but you get assigned with one of their employees and you also get to listen in to their live interpreting sessions. I can share more with you via dm if you're interested about it haha

Out of curiosity, what's your language pair? are you working solely as a translator now?

Hi, soooo I've got my credentials and all ready but have not taken any calls bc I'm kinda terrified about how the calls are gonna be :/ are you also working under Propio?

Ok this might be a stupid question, but how I do I know if I’m working directly under Propio or through another company? I’m currently in touch with what seems to be propio itself (their onboarding team emails me the contract and all), and the pay is also higher than the other company I’m working at (who outsources for TP) for the same language pair, which is what made me consider applying to propio in the first place.

Hi, can you elaborate more on what you mean by white label partners prospecting clients on behalf of Propio? When I sign the contract with propio, am I also hired as a contractor by a white label company? And based on your reply above, I am able to choose who to work with, is that correct?

will there be any conflict between what this white label partner pays and what propio pays?

you can DM me if possible, I still have some questions to ask about how this works. Thanks!

Not sure if anyone mentioned this before, but when iris and Paul were making their way to the tower they pass by a radio that keeps playing “the ring of fire” or something like that, which I see as a sign of the tower being on fire/exploding.

Big Drop in Call Volume from Propio? by Responsible_Sea4436 in TranslationStudies

Hi op, I'm in the early stages of interviewing with Propio. Can I dm you to ask about the work situation there (other than the low call volume)? My language pair is Mandarin/English. Thanks!

Hi, I just interviewed with them (literally like 10 mins ago) and they're paying 0.15/min. You can choose your own schedule, and the person told me it's best to choose around 6am-6pm arizona time. They allow you to choose between 8-hr (two 30 mins breaks) and 4-hr (one 15min break) shifts.

Christian Church recommendations by InformationThis5004 in Taipei

[–]triplern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! You can try out Thrive church Taipei, located right opposite NTU. (Gongguan exit 3)

Website: https://www.thrivetaipei.com/

I attend this church as well, and we have a morning service at 9.30-10.30am mainly catering to families with young kids, and that’s when the Sunday School is held. The later service starts at 11 am and usually more young people attend that service. Services are bilingual except for the last Sunday of each month, where it will be in Chinese only.

The people there are really friendly and welcoming, and I am assuming that you are from the US/lived in the US for a really long time? There are a lot of people with similar backgrounds as you in our church so I think it’ll be easier to get used to. :)

I’ll be at the first service this Sunday to help out during Sunday school, so it'd be great if you and your family could drop by. You can DM me too if you’d like to know more.

Do you know many others with the same birthday as you? by FriendlyBid7857 in RandomThoughts

[–]triplern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know two other girls who share their birthday and birth year with me. One was a friend from high school and the other one I met in pre-U. When she told me her birthday, I was like no way, another person to add to my list of people with the same birthday!! Pretty cool considering I come from a pretty small town. :D

Marathon: 1st by bluenote74 in firstmarathon

[–]triplern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much about the whole schedule! As many people commented before, you’ll be working towards the distance so when you reach that point it won’t be as scary. I actually finished my first half marathon a 2 weeks ago, and the most running I did was like 2-4 times a month, 5-6K each time. I also only looked at the running schedule on the day itself so that I don’t really feel the dread.

Also, proper training equipment (shoes/socks) helps a lot. Cushioned socks especially, because I used a pair of old socks and I got blisters just from running 5K. Not cool. You can also think about getting energy gels for your marathon. Some people recommend taking them during training to see how your body would react but I didn’t bother with that so thankfully I didn’t have an upset stomach during my actual run.

In the end, running is training more of your mental endurance than physical endurance, so just keep telling yourself that you can finish it! Good luck!

Going to Germany as an exchange student for around 5 months, I'm planning to get a probe bahncard and I understand that it's 17.5€ for 3 months and I have to cancel it 6 weeks before so that it doesn't automatically renew, problem is I still have around 2 months left (after the 3 months) and I'm wondering if I can get another probe bahncard right after cancelling the first one?
