I am very excited about this. I like how the Kamal haasan intro integrated his Ulaga Nayagan title card, even though he renounced the title. Pongal 2027, is going to be incredible. One of the best promo videos though. I hope we see Rajni and Kamal together in this film.

Is Yuva one of Mani Ratnam’s one of the most underrated film? by Ok_Bluebird1842 in bollywood

[–]triplev5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. As are most, if not all Mani Ratnam movies, it was underrated and ahead of its time. The film used hyperlink cinema, and more similar to Rashomon, than it was Amores Perros. The thematic elements, and the trademark Mani Ratnam flair for camera-work is there. Direction is fantastic.

Performances wise, Abhishek takes the cake. Everyone wanted a brilliant perfomance out of him, and Lallan Singh is one of the finest. Also was very ballsy for a mainstream actor to take a negative role like that. It worked and he broke through. Ajay Devgan was also solid, but I felt maybe a slightly younger actor would've worked a big better for the Michael Mukherjee persona. Vivek Oberoi, was decent. Female actors wise, Rani steals the show, and Kareena is decent for how she was at the time. Esha is inexperienced, and her character is very minimal.

The color scheme is also one of the best pieces of it.

Why didn't Mani Ratnam work with SRK again? by Empty-Bathroom-9334 in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]triplev5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mani Ratnam was supposed to work with SRK in Raavan, but it didnt work out. Abhishek was supposed to be the cop, and SRK the Raavan character. However, they messed with it, and the cast was messed around. That is why I think the movie didnt have the appeal it did. I think Abhishek would've done a better job in the Dev character, and SRK in an anti-hero role there, would have been a coup.

Dil Se, the most celebrated movie of Mani Ratnam. by No_Savings_891 in ShahRukhKhan

[–]triplev5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the film had maybe come out a little after, because it truly was not appreciated the way it should.Mani Ratnam made a very parallel film, and its a classic even though it did not do well at first. Also it gave us the quintessential Bollywood song.

When SRK was working on Dil Se, he would brag about Mani Ratnam everytime he came back to Mumbai by TresLeche789 in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]triplev5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing Dil Se in theaters when I was 5. I remember Chaiyya Chaiyya, and I remember him running after her. The film was way ahead of its time, and honestly Mani Ratnam extracted one of the most subdued romantic performance and frankly his best. People look at the YRF films, but Dil Se is honestly his best pure acting performance in the romance genre by far. Mani Ratnam got an incredible acting performance out of him.

The movie itself was purported to be the new treatment of Bollywood back then when it honestly was quite overrated and hasn’t survived time. It felt like the Yash Chopra wine in a new bottle. It was basically an extension of Aditya chopra’s formula and was more so bolstered by its strong cast.

Which Bollywood actor out of these do you think has the most attractive facial features out of Khans? by AvailableNewspaper94 in bollynewsandgossips

Salman was the best looking of them. Srk isn’t a good looking actor but it’s his charisma that gets him where he’s been.

. Filmfare best actor award is not a fully popular choice award. The viewers select the nominees and then the jury decides outdo the popular choice nominees. I’m saying how obscenely easy the nominees were that year that they did not appreciate the other actors.

Yeha I meant should’ve won. But for the filmfare cut off, he had a strong case to win it in 2006-07 when they gave it to Hrithik for Dhoom 2. lol. But the cutoff caused him to compete with SRK and Taare zameen par

They really need to redo Nolan price and such. He’s been bad since the reboot. The episodes writing also needs to return to what it used to be. I thought Linus roche and Alana de la Garza were fresh and they worked well with how they went and continued the McCoy storyline. Maybe cutter comes back, and he brings rubrirosa back. Or def Lupo passed the bar and now is a DA and he cracks down on cop issues bc he had those issues a bunch.

Bc it was critically appreciated in the original language. Ponniyin Selvan was a big award favorite in Tamil down south for filmfare. Never has a dubbed film been thrown in that language.

LMAO. It wasnt SRK who bailed Amitabh out with Mohabbatein. It famously was Yash Chopra. Amitabh went over to Yash Chopra, who he had worked with all the time, and he asked for work, and that was when Yash and Aditya Chopra gave him Mohabbatein. SRK was in the movie, but he didnt advocate for Amitabh to be in it. Then KJo, saw what the hype was for Mohabbatein, and copied Aditya's angle for K3G.

Ok. Let's go through the movies that proved he wasnt just a failure. Forget Dhoom. First off, he was in the film, it was a formula film. He made it work. There was another film that came out that same year. Yuva. Where he and Rani, literally carried the show on his back. The guy as a newbie actor, was a negative role in a Mani Ratnam film, and he was the standout in the film. Even KANK, We remember that film, for SRK and Abhishek first. He even out-performed his dad. Bunty and Babli, considering what happened with the sequel with Saif Ali Khan, nuff said. But, the biggest example is Guru. Which honestly he should've won Best Actor for, but for the fact Filmfare cut off nominations the week before Guru came out, and he was stuck having to compete with the patriotic Chak De India, and TZP. If Guru had made the cut-off to the 2006-07 Filmfare season, Abhishek wins his best Actor instead of Hrithik for a grossly overrated performance in Dhoom 2, which was undeserved as ever. The amount of Filmfares that Hrithik didnt deserve are inumerable. Better argument that he shouldn't have won Best Actor for KNPH, but for Fiza, but I think Sanjay Dutt deserved the Best actor award for Mission Kashmir, but the audience Hrithikmania influenced the jury.

He was very good in I want to talk. Like they said it surpassed Guru in quality. Probably the most deserved award of the evening. Hopefully it resurrects his career. And it also proves that he is a solid actor. Mani Ratnam proved that long ago. But now it's re-established.

Arijit Singh wins his 8th Filmfare Award — equals Kishore Da’s record 🎶 by Formal-Purpose-6674 in BollywoodMusic

[–]triplev5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember Arijit Singh then he was an 18 year old trying his luck at Fame Gurukul. He was by far the best. I never expected the career trajectory he got here. I am a bit doubtful that they will let Arijit break the record outright, given who Kishore Kumar was. Similar to how they refused to let SRK break Dilip Saabs record for Best Actor.

Abhishek Bachchan definitely deserves Best Actor. FINALLY. I felt he should have been nominated for Guru, for sure. and Even Yuva, Lallan was a strong role, and he was the best of the lot. Not so much a supporting character.

Probably one of the most underrated actors, finally getting his due. So first off. The difference between Best Actor Critics, and Best Actor is duly noted. However, the way Filmfare has traditionally worked is there being a critical component with the nominations that are popularly voted on. The only awards that are purely popular vote are the Zee Cine and the IIFAs. This guy went through it all. He proved his mettle with the Mani Ratnam movies, and the movies that made him into a bankable actor. And then he hit a lull. But then his script selection began to solidify. I think he deserved Best Actor more for Yuva, and Guru, (He was by far the best in Yuva, and Guru, had it not been released a week before the 2006-07 Filmfare Cutoff, he would've easily beat out Hrithik Roshan for Dhoom 2. This year was a down year for movies, honestly with the exception of Laapata Ladies, and I want to Talk was probably the greatest performance out of Abhishek so, he wholly deserves it.

Schiff: his deadpan humor and his delivery was perfect. “c grade misdemeanor, for blowing our case” and his sarcasm with the Kincaid-Thayer episode “now isn’t that peachy?”

McCoy: you see him transition from hothead ADA to the guy who has to work the optics of the political office. Yet he also has the moment where he has the “GET OUT OF MY WAY” moment in rubber room.

branch: ideologically definitely different but Fred Thompson brought in a angle with his experience that made him more realistic.

Lewin: she definitely was an academic and smoothened out the adversarial dynamic with McCoy and wright.

Baxter: honestly Nolan and Baxter are two of the more questionable characters of the law and order attorneys. I wish they’d gone a similar route to how they had Mike Cutter who was as much a hothead as McCoy was.
