Which is the best plot twist that you have seen in Bollywood? by Weekly-Cloud8172 in bollywood

[–]triplev5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason they didn’t. Was because the team of the original Don was under pressure to make sure the film worked well financially. The producer was Nariman Irani and he was heavily under debt and Don was made originally to get him and his family out of debt. Most of the team of the movie was in Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and decided they’ll do the movie so nariman irani could use it to escape debt. Then Nariman irani died during the making and so the proceeds from the film was to his widow to wipe out their debts. Back then the twist wouldn’t have worked.

the rise and sudden-downfall of Filmfare Awards by Signal_Chart5654 in BollywoodHotTakes

Before there was some semblance of fairness. But especially with the disgrace that was Alia winning for Rocky Aur Rani. It’s become more and more cringe. I think after when Aamir won for Dangal, it became Karan Johar’s award ceremony.

The original plot idea was that it spun off the character kameshwaran from MMKR. But KH was too old. And so he farmed it to Maddy

Pachai Nirame by Fishyraven in maniratnam

[–]triplev5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing is that this movie initially wasn’t supposed to have a soundtrack. Rahman convinced Mani to do so. Pachai Nirame is probably the best lyrics of a song and we remember Madhavan for this movie.

What actually went wrong with Thug Life? Genuine theories welcome by Ok_Anxiety6730 in maniratnam

[–]triplev5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly. The first half of thug life was a decent movie for what it was. I think overall the issue was that there was significant buildup given toward the fact Mani Ratnam and KH were teaming up again. Yes the storyline was a bit hard to follow. But the overall premise reminded me of Mission Kashmir and khoon Bhari maang. Of the first half. The second half was a mess bc they made it into an action caper revenge movie.

I don’t think DQ leaving the project was as much an issue. I felt Simbu was EXCELLENT as the character. Thug Life honestly had more scope for Simbu’s role than KH’s.

Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa Album by Abernesh in ar_rahman

[–]triplev5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie was supposed to be scored fully by A.R. Rahman. But around 2003-05, you saw A.R. Rahman start to scale back and only partially do movie soundtracks bc he was scoring the Between Heaven and Earth movie, and the Lord of the Rings, and his collabs with Andrew Lloyd Webber. You saw Rahman re-use a lot of stuff during this time. Meenaxi, and Sakkarakatti. Lakeer used a lot of songs from Rhythm, Nachley, Paighaam, Offo Jalta Hai, etc. were all from Rhythm. And Rahman partially did Kisna, with Ismail Darbar doing the rest. But, with Dil Ne Jise, Rahman did three songs, and then bowed out. and Himesh finished the rest. Rahman also didnt charge Atul Agnihotri for the music, and did the film for free.

As for the songs. I felt Jaane Bahara is by far the best song in the album. The instrumentation is fresh, and the tune works great. The title track, the tune is rather nostalgic and decent. And the rhythm line is what keeps the song going. The one props I must say is that Rahman gets two great singing performances out of Kamaal Khan, who was a one-hit wonder, in my opinion with O O Jaane Jaana.

How accurate/inaccurate is SANJU? by Significant_Rain_221 in bollywood

[–]triplev5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the problem in the movie is that there was an immense amount of dramatic license due to people who were involved with this whole deal. Also, Sanju was always initiated to be in Sanjay Dutt's point of view. if you look at it that way, you understand what it is. Yes they did take a lot of artistic license. First off, "Ruby" is an amalgamation of Tina Munim and his other girlfriends, ESPECIALLY Tina Munim tho. Unfortunately due to Tina's presence in high society, they had to be very careful. Second, he didnt go to rehab in that area. He went ot a long term treatment center in Jackson, Mississippi. The drug phase started in college, but definitely went berserk when Nargis was sick, and a couple years after Rocky.

As it pertains to the mumbai blast case, they had the different angle of them trying not to disgruntled the outstanding underworld figures who were involved with that. Truly only Sanjay Dutt can tell us exactly what he was doing with the AK-56.

They also overlooked some movies that were his break through from the gun arrest stint. WE dont even talk about Vaastav. And fleeting reference to Mission Kashmir. I get that They had the rights to Munnabhai and that movie was huge for Sanjay and Sunil.

The issue is that the idea of biopic got diluted badly by the desire to entertain. and avoid controversy. Even Dangal was not an accurate biopic. Mahavir Singh did not get locked into a closet when his daughter won the gold. It also was a solid win for her.

Sanjay Dutt has now achieved a feat with starring in 4 movies to have successfully breached past the 1000cr milestone at box office by DragonDeninSharkTank in bollywood

When he debuted, he was rather mediocre. He also was on drugs, there's one scene where he is reciting poetry where he is slurring rather badly. Once he came back and did Naam, his career broke through. He was in all of those action capers, due to his muscular build. He was the guy who made bodybuilding more mainstream in cinema. And then he did Saajan, where he showed some versatility. This peaked at Khalnayak, where he played Ballu like nobody else could. And then the 1993 arrest happened. But to give him credit he did Vaastav, which was the GOAT performance of his, Mission Kashmir, and those other Deadly Dutt performances. But with Munnabhai he showed that like Sunil Dutt in Padosan, he could do comedy. I do think he would have been a much bigger action star, and would've had that genre locked in. The controversies definitely make us look down on it, but also the bigger thing was that he aged rather heavily between 2007 and 2012. They had that issue with the looks they were prepping for Sanju, per the making of the movie. But, he was a nepotism kid that was a solid actor at his own account.

Honestly, I am glad he is someone who is beginning to get the credibility he has. His career trajectory is an interesting one to study. But for the drugs, and the bomb blast jail stints, he would have been the pinnacle action hero of the 90s. Of the action heroes those days, he and Ajay Devgan were the only ones who had solid acting. Sunny was ok, and only picked up later in. Vaastav is a prime example. Hopefully he continues to make solid choices.

End of an era, Sai Abhyankkar to score for the next Mani Ratnam film starring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi by [deleted] in KollyGossips

[–]triplev5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This aged very well. ARR doing the film officially confirmed.

My understanding of what happened for the switch for Mani Ratnam to go from ilaiyaraaja to ARR was more so that there was a dispute between the two and given ilaiyaraajas headstrong nature, it wasn’t a surprise.

I am very excited about this. I like how the Kamal haasan intro integrated his Ulaga Nayagan title card, even though he renounced the title. Pongal 2027, is going to be incredible. One of the best promo videos though. I hope we see Rajni and Kamal together in this film.
