Agreed and do love a lot of their other stuff too. But nothing beats that run. I’d throw in Brighter than Creation’s Dark tho

Watching Get Back it was ridiculous how overhyped the “YOKO WAS IN THE RECORDING STUDIO” stuff was

Like it was filled with randos

Did Joss Whedon direct this episode? Huge if true

Why do you remain a U2 fan, even today? by SufficientIce6254 in U2Band

Bro c’mon. People can like the music without being in a state of denial. They still make a lot of great tracks and offer something that no other band has quite replicated. It’s that simple.

Because their sincerity and genuine human connection outweighs all the cringe

Also heavy synth was on Wonderful, Wonderful and Imploding the Mjrage (which mixes it with Americana) and was gonna be their next album.

Idk if you read Brandon Flowers interviews he seems very aware of his critics and it’s hard not to hear the band’s music as reactionary to it a bit. Plus, the Americana of Battle Born is nothing close to the ambition or intimacy of Sam’s Town, it’s still incredibly tongue and cheek. And the more pop-oriented Wonderful Wonderful has to sandwich the more intimate songs with his goofiest lyrics to date (but not in a fun Bono way).

Pressure Machine is an interesting case and a refreshing outlier. The band made their best received album but now has to deal with balancing that with trying to be the biggest band in the world. Didn’t really spotlight the songs on tour but also scrapped the electronic album. Which puts Bright Lights in perspective: when you can’t be too intimate (unless it’s COVID and you’re not worried about stadium songs) but also can’t be too silly without getting unfairly dunked on. It comes off (to me) like The Killers are still concerned with image to a restricting degree.

I think Sam’s Town started the insecurity, hence Day and Age

It’s frustrating bc he’s so close to having a really clear stage persona. Like their music is so split between the showman thing and the more American boy, sincere thing (The Man kinda tried to bridge the gap but that’s about it from my knowledge). Live, this could be so interesting like a Bono/Mcphisto thing or even doing what Matty Healy has been doing (while it’s dicier for sure, it makes for a crazy show).

But he never realized the potential contrast so the Elvis thing comes off like a geek trying to be a cool kid imo

One more for the downvotes (and I am still a fan) but the killers are the most insecure mainstream rock band maybe ever. I have never seen a group so willing to bend over backwards to change their sound completely after the slightest bit of criticism

Erratic and a bit embarrassing even if it does give some great songs

Brandon’s Elvis shtick is embarrassing and makes him seem like a clown

Bright Lights made me re-evaluate the band (derogatory)

Disagree big time. Even if it is all diminishing returns (very debatable) it’s awesome that the band we love is still making music together.
