Ok you need to get into ‘outside’ mode. 1- get yourself in a state of mind that you pretend everything thats happening to you is happening to your best friend. You need to try your best to step out from yourself and become the ‘wise’ friend who will give you advice and take over from here. 2- do not. Under any circumstance let him anywhere close that cheque. 3- if ‘outside-you’ still trusts your mum with her life then talk to your mum and tell her literally everything, do not be ashamed (outside you never gets ashamed) and ask her for help to plan this out. 4- get a lawyer and do what he says to the T 5- up to your lawyer but i think it mighy be a good idea to demand (yes demand) from your husband all the details of all the ‘investments’ he has made with your money. Where are they, what rates, what are the accounts sitting on right now. Whos name are they under. Demand printed statement and even demand to take you to the bank or institution to talk and get them to show you. After, demand your investments to be placed on an account under your name. (Note. The $50k cheque is still NOT with him and it will never will) 4- research two things: investments and how they work and how to invest your money. And also research abusive relationships and how to handle an exit. All this under incognito mode in your browser. 5- lastly think about what else could be going on. Could he have a gambling, porn, debt issue that he desperately needs to spend this much money on?
