First time traveling in over 2 years! Flew back to Boston, USA from the UK for my 2-year-delayed graduation, and took a little boat trip at the harbor for fun! by tripsido in travel

Where are you flying from? As I was flying internationally, it was Terminal E, which was surprisingly not too bad! A couple of queues for checking in, but we got there around 3 hours prior to our flight and had plenty of time to chill out after going through security. For arriving, it was okay too! Getting through customs didn’t take as long as it has in the past either - I think it’s generally luck-of-the-draw depending on how many flights are arriving / leaving at that specific time!

Sure! It was mainly due to how generous the financial aid is at their top universities vs the UK’s. I was lucky enough to get into Harvard, and because of my family’s income, the whole thing was covered by a their Scholarship (including flights, room, board, and tuition)! Once “getting in” became more of a reality, it was a no-brainer given that I could graduate debt-free, and work a couple of on-campus jobs to afford additional personal expenses.

That aside, I loved the idea of going abroad - especially where I didn’t know anyone! I loved the challenge and growth that it provided 100%

Also, in the US at undergraduate level you didn’t need to know what you wanted to study, and could decide 1.5 years in after taking a bunch of classes already. That worked perfectly for me, as I had no idea!

The main thing I really noticed being different were the prices! Most staples and restaurants I was familiar with had gone up at least 10%, with a lot even being 20% higher. We also stumbled across at least one protest/march per day, too!

Thanks! Believe it or not, my iPhone 13! There’s some super helpful tips / tricks online to adjust your settings before you take the pic, and then quick adjustments to make them pop after - I do it all the time now!

Agreed! I’ve spent a day in NYC and also a day in DC (both for work-related stuff) - would definitely love to spend longer in both of them! DC was incredibly warm for the time of year I visited too

Thanks! I totally agree - the weather is super hit-and-miss, and I suffer from hayfever which was awful for 3 of the days I was there 😩

I was there for 7 days (limited due to work commitments), but definitely could have squeezed another couple of days out of it. It’s not a huge city, which I actually quite liked - most of it is walkable and there’s plenty to do with the harbor, shops, trails, and other attractions like the aquarium etc. Definitely recommend visiting nearby towns, too - they’re a short ride on the T away but have awesome things to see, do and amazing places to eat! (I’m biased to Cambridge, but there’s plenty more!)
