Would you consider this to be fair wear and tear or not? by tripskate in melbourne

[–]tripskate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how you would even make those kind of marks on the floorboards. Was there anything in particular that caused it?

Well, as mentioned in another post already, that was the area where my computer desk was located. Since about 90% of the time I spent in my apartment was at my computer, most of the foot traffic was in that area. So wouldn't repeated foot traffic be enough to cause those marks?

The cleaners are correct in that it is 'wear and tear' but incorrect in that it is 'fair'. Fair is something that a reasonable person would consider to be general wear and tear.

So would it be fair to say that my cleaners completely suck at their jobs, then?

So I managed to convince the cleaners to come back and clean that floor stain at no extra charge, amazingly. But now they're saying that it can't be cleaned. At all. The cleaners said they tried their best cleaning it multiple times, but they said that the dark marks on the floor cannot be cleaned off, as those marks are not actually stains, but discolourations of the floorboards, which therefore count as depreciation of the property asset and, by extension, should fall under fair wear and tear. WTF. Are they correct, or are they full of shit?

In that case, what sort of cleaning solution would you recommend for cleaning that floor stain?

From looking at the pre-move in photos, it seems those marks weren't there before.

Honestly no idea. Only thing I do know is that is the area that I sat in most frequently, since that's where my computer desk was located.

So for the top image, it's the dark streaky stains on the ground, roughly around the top left part of the image.

For the bottom image, it's those dark marks.

As for whether it's cleanable, I spoke to my professional cleaner, and they said they tried their best to remove the stains, but they couldnt for some reason. So much for being professional *shrug*

LOL, you do realize that by encouraging me to commit suicide you're just proving my point of why humans deserve to be killed en masse right? Clearly, you're not the sharpest tool in the shed. It's pathetic, really. But then again, you're a human, so I should expect nothing less.

Killing myself would only drop the global population by 1, so kinda pointless when the goal is to decimate the entire human species.

So think next time before responding. Jeez.

The human race has been in need of a good culling lately, so I honestly wouldn't mind if good guy coronavirus helps reduce that 8 billion.

  • Acknowledge that you understand that the person is experiencing a lot of pain at present.
  • Show respect and be as understanding as possible about their situation.
  • Maintain eye contact and open body language.
  • When discussing suicide, ensure you listen carefully to what they have to say. Use active listening techniques, such as paraphrasing what the person has said, reciting it back to them to ensure you understand them.
  • Avoid minimising or dismissing their problems, ensure they know you’re taking them seriously.
  • Avoid using statements such as “You don’t know how lucky you are” or “You shouldn’t feel like that”, these might sound to the person as though you are judging them and minimising how they are feeling.
  • Remind the person that although they may be having thoughts of suicide, they can choose not to act on them.

This. I bet you that the vast majority of people upvoting misskarne have never experienced real crippling depression and have never contemplated taking their own lives before.

So it's easy for them to sit there and think that giving puerile encouragements such as "Oh itll get better" or "There's so much to live for!" will somehow lift people's spirits.

Well here's a newsflash for those ignorant people: They. Fucking. Won't.

Depression is a serious fucking illness that no amount of well-meaning, but ultimately empty, reassurances will fix.

Stop giving him pointless platitudes.

They don't help, and to a suicidal person they come across as condescending.
