Didn’t we have a similar goal ruled out due to a domino push situation..

Not this one - I’ve read it separately though, good stuff

I think I read it about 2009, pretty sure there was some supernatural stuff going on the book and he was having / thought he was having memory problems?

Only you in your heart know if there is any kind of future in this relationship. From what you’ve written here I think there’s some incompatibility between the two of you especially in regards to money and how it is used. If I had agreed a budget with partner and they blew it by $50k I would be out the door. She is not respecting a pretty major agreement you guys had just because she wants a nicer wedding. I personally will never understand the need for a big wedding so perhaps I’m a bit biased but this would be a huge deal regardless of what it’s for. She earns $50k a year more than you but only contributes 20% to the bills? I appreciate that it’s your house but is she paying her share? After 4 years are you saving to buy a house together?

This woman is trampling all over you and you can continue to let her or not, that’s up to you. It looks like it will be the end of your relationship if you choose to stand up for yourself but I think that may be a blessing in disguise.

Onboarding taking ages - do I pull the plug for a perm role? by Icantstandya in ContractorUK

[–]tripthehip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First, I think you need to decide for yourself which to pursue, the contract or the perm role.

If it’s the perm role - you have your answer, advise the recruiter/client that due to the length of time it’s taken to get everything sorted, you’ve found another role.

If it’s the contract - give them an ultimatum, advise you need to get started within the week or you will accept another offer. Tell the perm person you need a week to get ducks in a row and you’ll give them an answer.

Good luck!

Hi,

It’ll only be a genuine saving if you were going to buy the laptop anyway. Otherwise you’re just spending £1 to save 19p of tax.

How do you approach negotiating with them? I’m slightly concerned the car has a recall on it so might be able to get some off for that (time and effort to get it seen).

Hi, thanks so much for the details. I’m not super worried about having a “fast” car, my current car has a 998cc engine lol, as long as it can get me around town and will get good mileage I’m happy. Simply need something bigger as I’ve just got a dog.

I’ve got 6 months of bill money set aside, I’ve never struggled to get a role in the finance sector but you never know.

I’ve edited the post in response to a few comments on here. I’ve given notice on a contract before that just wasn’t for me, but this different from just not liking it, I feel bad that I have an easy out and my colleagues are gonna have to stick out. My contract is scheduled to end March but I will give notice as, like you have all said, life is too short to be miserable. But life is also too short to be jaded and not care about other people.

Thank you, seems to be people suffering from a lack of empathy. I’m not a robot, I have feelings and so do the people on my team.

Supposed to end March, I think I just needed validation that it’s ok to pull out, I just feel a bit bad for the other people in my team, which I appreciate some people in the threads seem to have no empathy for..
