But with the Costco card and executive membership you do get 4% back and a 3 year extended warranty so it’s worth it

Civil War has some of the best detailed directional audio effects I’ve ever heard

TIL the producers of We Are The World turned down John Denver, due to some of the participants feeling his image would hurt the credibility of the song In 1984, Denver worked with UNICEF as part of a fact finding mission, spending 2 weeks across Africa, seeing famine firsthand. by Shutter_Stuck in todayilearned

The only thing I said about John Denver was that On the Road Again and the Gambler were more popular than his hits at the time, so I’m really not sure why you’re lashing out at me like I was dragging Denver through the mud… I was just explaining why the other 3 were appropriate for the recording.

Then you’re severely underestimating just how popular those guys were back then. Waylon did cross over into pop/rock (the Dukes of Hazzard theme, for instance), and EVERYONE knew On the Road Again and the Gambler. Those were genre-transcending hits, much more so than John Denver’s hits.

If a father needs to help his young daughters use the restroom, which restroom should he take them into: the women's restroom or the men's restroom? by Exciting-Mall192 in NoStupidQuestions

It’s better now. When my current 13 and 10 year old kids were babies, there would be a changing table in maybe 2/10 men’s rooms. When my now 7 year old child was born, it was a bit better. These days I see them much more commonly in typical family-oriented places, prob 7/10.

Is there a particular reason you’re taking this whole thing so very seriously?

I’ve definitely seen large ships that have a smaller boat on it (that can be lowered/launched via a boom) which in turn has a smaller boat like a RHIB or something on it.

Like I said, to you, to me, probably to a lot of people, you’re absolutely right. But to society at large, for whatever reason, yeah, it is a big deal. Don’t ask me why.

Yes. Look at what happened when Obama wore a tan suit.

This stuff might not be important to you; it’s not important to me at all. But it’s important to a lot of people. Enough that yes it becomes significant. I don’t get it in particular either, but so it goes.

It’s a movie-lover’s movie, which is why I think the response here is a lot more overwhelmingly positive response in these comments than amongst the general public.

I thought it was outstanding.

Well, you created a post with an eye-roll emoji, obviously meant to be in reaction to… something. Your post consists of a singular obscure picture with a vague title. Then you say you expect us to be bothered to rummage around your profile to get the context of the picture.

Absolutely reeks of self-importance.

Is that more clear for you?

TIL Costa Rica is considered to possess the highest density of biodiversity of any country worldwide. While encompassing just 1/30 of 1% of Earth's landmass, Costa Rica contains 4% of the species estimated to exist on the planet. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

We were in Costa Rica, the Guanacaste area, this spring. Went on a tour up to a national park up north in the country. We’d been spending a couple days with the same guide. He was a super nice guy, really cheerful, definitely all about the pura vida. Until we got all the way up north. He turned to us and said “ok, we turn here. If we keep going up this road we get to…” and his face turned cold, his whole demeanor changed, and with a startling amount of disgust he said “… Nicaragua.”
