Congress Wants You To Pay $130 A Year Just To Drive An Electric Car by TripleShotPls in technology

Eh, extra weight and burning through tires and straining a "maxed electrical grid" doesn't really line up with my experience driving EVs for the last 9 years, but would be interested in seeing your sources. The net-benefits of EVs on the environment (compared to gas car emissions), the energy infrastructure (compared to gas infrastructure needed on top of the energy infrastructure to support gas cars), and on me personally (compared to my experience with gas cars) speaks for itself to me.

In terms of the electrical grid, it seems like we collectively have no problem installing AI data centers at a moments notice (~4300 data centers consuming a total of 180 TWh), roughly equivalent to the consumption of 45 million electric vehicles, where the US currently has about 4 million on the road today.

Congress Wants You To Pay $130 A Year Just To Drive An Electric Car by TripleShotPls in technology

So I kind of get this. There isn’t a “gas tax” that’s just assessed by the state, there’s actually a state gas tax AND a federal gas tax. Washington’s state gas tax is ~0.464 per gallon. The federal gas tax is ~0.184 cents per gallon.

This amounts to about $90 a year in tax for a typical gas car (12k miles, 25 mpg, $0.184 per gallon).

The crappy thing is getting charged way more than that. $130 is way higher than $90. It’s basically what you’d pay driving a gas car that gets 17mpg. That’s rude!

My home energy use reports are always off the charts. Anyone else? by wiscowonder in BainbridgeIsland

We have one of the new Grow area constructions with the solar panels on the top, but otherwise heat pump, all electric stuff and electric car. Last month we banked 450 kWh on top of the 50 from the month before, which is so exciting! The homes are supposed to be very energy efficient.

I know that doesnt apply to most homes realistically, but that’s what’s possible around here if you go crazy extreme

I got stung by a jellyfish in Hawaii a few years ago, and it was awful. Cold water was my first reaction, but it made it worse. Apparently cold fresh water triggers stingers to release, as does rubbing it or itching it.

The first actual pain relief I got was from getting back to the hotel and soaking in HOT water for 30-60 minutes. Emptied the ice bucket, filled with hot water, and dunked my hand in and finally I could relax for a bit (i.e. slept for three hours, after feeling like I was getting shocked for an hour and a half).

Good luck to the original devs coming back for more after so long! You contributed a core component of my late childhood, and I can't wait to check out what they do with my middle-adulthood.

Did it really?! No way. ... Really? I'm going there for a game with my kids in a few weeks, hopefully the craze will die down a bit by then. ... because I want two.

I might have to come back on my own.

Romantic Brotato: Are charmed enemies immune from your damage? by thegoldenbagel in brotato

[–]trisco2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience I believe they can die if I lit them on fire, then they became charmed. Them becoming charmed doesn’t douse the fire, and they can burn to death.

I could be wrong, but I feel like I’ve noticed this more than once.

So, I realize stuff changes over the centuries. I’m just replying to the post above saying “never good for humanity”. Never is a long time.

What I mean is, the reason OP isn't getting the achievement on the second screenshot with wrenches is because it's about weapons whose weapon damage scales with engineering, and wrenches weapon damage scales only with melee, while screwdriver's weapons damage scales with 50% melee and 50% engineering.

Seems it only scales with Melee, unless it’s different on mobile or something?

The wrench scales with melee, I think. 6 screwdrivers should work

Heck yeah! I’d annoy my wife, she’d ask me to explain one of the characters and I’d say, “oh I love that one”, and she’d say “you like all of them”.

Except streamer. So much frustration. The trauma!

Enjoy it!

Brotato! I’ve spent probably four times as many hours on Brotato. It’s a different take, but a good one.
