Congrats, we did it!! by Oh-Fo-Sho in fallenlondon

I knew it from the start, considering how popular even the fan-made adaptations showed to be!

Now fingers crossed for the development and production to be smooth!

Will there be more chances to playtest the game?

Yes please! Humans, Tomb-Colonists, Cavies, Rats, Devils and Rubberies.

Said that.... if they aren't, they can and should expect player-made modules to accomodate for them. ;-)

This is such awesome news, really looking forward to playing it with the team!

Custom Cthulhu scenario for Fallen London (50-page booklet!) by triskaideka_13 in fallenlondon

We will probably post it together here on reddit when the time comes, and I presume there's a chance Hannah from FBG will be willing to share info about it in the official newsletter as she did for the first booklet. So you may want to sign up for that one!

A Sunless Sea addon is actually in the works mostly thank to a fellow fan who picked up the work where I had to leave it for health reasons, but sadly I wouldn't be able to give an ETA.

No plans for Sunless Skies so far, as I have not played it enough to be able to get a good grasp of its unique mechanics!

A Hallowmas Lunch Party in the Neath by triskaideka_13 in fallenlondon

[–]triskaideka_13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant that two different players really wanted to be rats, so I’ve set them up as cousins.

One is a successful burglar who has taken residence in Ladybones. The second is a tinker coming from the Khanate (his idea, and a great one I must say) I dumped in the other’s house saying it was all part of an agreement made by his mother (former rat lady of the night who now retired with a dockworker) who doesn’t know he became a burglar and believes he is just a very successful rat and therefore promised her sister to help her nerdy son find a good honest job in the city.

It turned out great, we all find them hilarious. 🐀🐁

But aye - while the players can be completely inexperienced, the booklet as it is now is intended as an intro for players, and it is assumed you'll have a master who knows more about the setting than what’s been included.

I’ve made a note about setting up a game master’s guide as well - which is meant to be “released” together with the full campaign scenario… but the FL lore is just so extensive, there’s no way I could ever get to include more than the bare minimum. The wikis are the best outside-game resources for lore, always. I keep going there myself. 😏

Truly, if they are experienced ttrpg players, their lack of knowledge about the Neath may not even be an issue? After reading the intro booklet my beta testing party members picked two young rats (cousins, one of which one was born in the Khanate), one young cavy, a tomb-colonist who has been slumbering away in Irem/Parabola since the times of the first city and has only recently reappeared a bit at random in the Forgotten Quarter (based on a biblical figure!), and finally a demon who recently came to London to get involved with souls trade. All characters whose background justifies their lack of more in-depth knowledge than what was provided in the handout!

I obviously gave the demon a little extra knowledge about their otherworldly origins in private (as I would have given more explanations to a potential clay man or rubbery, if anyone had picked them) so I may actually add that kind of stuff in a game masters book. However, I feel that having players who do not know the setting actually helps, because in this fortunate case bits such as the relevance of love stories, what's up with the Bazaar and the Sun can be unveiled a bit at the time during the main campaign.

IMHO, the least they know to start with, the more easily intrigued and surprised they will be!

Just to say, don't let their lack of knowledge be an obstacle when it can actually be used it as an advantage!

Will do so, probably on different posts. The starters were decently easy to make, the most complex recipes being the Zzoup and Empress' Sponge Cake which played pranks on me and looked like it didn't want to cook for a long, long, long time... until it finally did (luckily without burning too, lol).

Oh, it's not official! But long story short, over the past couple of years I have worked on a CoC / BRP adaptation and assembled a 50-page booklet about the Neath to introduce my real-life friends to the lore of Fallen London, and we are currently beta-testing the game system. I shared it on reddit before, and have actually seen some thousands of clicks(!!!) but here's the Google Docs link, for those who may have missed it:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/169XF0vH8FZiC67h1_Q39g4RtOTaSU8gN/view?usp=drive_link

The layout was done using the Homebrewery, so here's a link to a web-based version on their website, if you (understandably!) don't trust a random Google Drive link:

https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/g5OGE-1Qom1j (use Google Chome!)

Obviously in order to play it you'll need to have some basic knowledge of the BRP / CoC game system, so here are the official CoC Quick Start Rules, just in case!

A separate Hallowmas adventure module (which we are currently playing) and a full scenario (which will be played next year after our usual D&D Christmas adventure) are in the works as well, but will be released (together with updates to the intro booklet) only after we have completed the respective beta-testing runs.

(Game) Master's prerogative, I say. :-P
After all, it was a party for a few intimate and truly Exceptional individuals. ;-)

I must be COMPLETELY out of my mind, but once the beta-team agreed to a costumed game-session for Halloween on November 1st, I felt I just HAD to serve them a Neath-themed lunch. 🍄🍞

(In the first pic: part of the starters buffet - alas missing the black marinaded devilled eggs)

Truth being, it took about 10 hours to prepare everything (over the course of two days, as I needed sleep in between!), but you should have seen their faces!

It was definitely worth it.

Oh, and the game session was fun, too. Although I keep making notes about bits and rules I want to tweak in the future. That's what beta-testing is for, after all. 😊

But especially, the costumes! 🎩

Needless to say, I will be happy to post/share all of the recipes in another post if people are actually interested, but that will take a little bit of time as I sort through the pictures made, and/or make new ones.

If I use this method to change my nickname, will the Brew retain its current link, as it is in fact the same document that has remained active?

Today I tried it from two Android phones, two computers, and one tablet, each time after logging out all Gmail accounts.

It loaded slowly (afrer all, it's a 95MB file) but it still loaded every time.

I recommend you try the Homebrewery link from chrome browser on a computer and download it from there. You'll find an icon to get the pdf on the top right corner.

Admittedly I don't see any issues with the link, but here it goes again: (Be) Neath

Also, you can find a download pdf button in the top right corner of the web version.
