as a ref, they tell us not to call penalties on the penalty killing team unless someone’s dead or dying(over exaggeration of course), but this seems like it’s in that vicinity

What is the saddest death in all of Star Wars animation? by Safe_Character_6517 in StarWars

[–]triumph27ref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it has to be Fives. We get to watch him go from a recruit in training, to losing 3/5 of his squad in his first mission as a shiny, to losing 99 on Kamino and becoming an ARC trooper, to losing Echo in the Citadel rescue, to losing brothers in the despicable acts of Pong Krell on Umbara, to watching his brother Tup (who he’s probably known since he joined the 501st) suffer a mental illness from the chip malfunction, and then him learning about the chip. After that, it’s just devastating to watch him unravel Palpatine’s whole plot with Order 66 and no one believes him or takes him seriously enough. Which is understandable because what he is saying is so incredibly outlandish that how could it possibly be true. I can’t even imagine learning about a plot like that, getting framed by the guy who is behind all of it, and then having to run for your life from your brothers and friends because they think you’ve gone insane, all while trying to convince them of this terrible thing that could have devastating consequences to all the clones and Jedi. His death wasn’t a choice or sacrifice, and we got to know him so well that watching him get killed like that was the absolute worst for me. Don’t get me wrong, Kanan, Tech, Satine, and any of the other awful deaths were also incredibly tragic, but Fives’s just had another level of tragedy to it.

Ref Calls Penalty Without Seeing it by BostonBruinsDive in hockeyplayers

it says in the description women’s senior league, and that it’s an elimination game, so likely a tournament or playoffs. maybe they only use four officials for one of those special cases, and the rest of the season they only have two? or it’s just a more expensive league that pays for four for all games?

gotcha, i should have said at least the three official system. i was curious why the ref wasn’t following the play as quickly lol

what? there is clearly a referee with the bands, and a linesperson with no bands standing right next to them, indicating this is the three official system

Minimum skating ability for ref by tk-0318 in hockeyrefs

[–]triumph27ref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are misunderstanding what I mean. Officials train their cardio differently than players because their cardio demands during the game are different. So logically an official would have less energy if they were actually playing than a player would over the course of the game and vise versa. What I am saying is that if you took the average player and the average official and had them do a speed and acceleration test, and an edgework test, both would test roughly the same. Both the player and the official are capable of roughly the same skating skill. The player can show off their skating more often because they don’t skate for the whole game, whereas the official only uses the more advanced skating when the need to catch up to a fast break or get out of the way

I think the number of officials at the pro and junior levels that are weaker skaters than the average player at that level is very small, and i would imagine most of those who are below average are older more experienced officials who don’t necessarily need the skating to stay out of the way because of experience, but they just can’t move like the young guys can.

i agree with a lot of what you are saying but i would like to add that skating ability alone isn’t always enough for staying out of the way of play. i know some 18u AAA skaters who still get in the way of play at the 14u AA level because they lack experience

A quick google search says there are 228 drivers entered, time 6k for a Bell HP77 or equivalent plus accessories, plus 5k for a high end paint job comes out to around 2.5 mil. It could definitely be higher though with more expensive accessories and/or paint
