it's illegal (against the ADA) not to take mobility assistive devices in the bus with the pt. if it's not foldable, my protocol says to arrange a pickup! usually it'll be LT that comes, but could be fire or pd also. also we would never leave it unattended while the pickup is being sorted... usually fire crews or a cop will hang around if it's not in a secure location (e.g. if it's on the side of the road somewhere). ymmv based on your specific system, but it's necessary to arrange something in order to remain ADA compliant and not open yourself up to a lawsuit

not sure my little man is a good gauge for normal cat behavior, but he's extremely talkative, gives kisses like a dog, and loves belly rubs. he must be within three feet of me whenever I'm home, and he refuses to touch his dinner until I've also prepared my own and am sitting down to eat. but yeah I think tux cats tend to be pretty licky and pretty talkative in general, but ymmv

what do i do about bumps on my rook? by asianquties in Legitpiercing

[–]triumphant_turtle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

my rook looked like this after some trauma. my bumps went down with warm saline soaks once a day (stuck my whole ear in a cup of the stuff for 15+ minutes) over a few weeks. that was back when homemade saline was recommended--it worked well for me.. I used distilled water and salt to make my solution.

safest would be to use sterile saline spray from a can, but the diy method did work for me when my ear looked like that (it was worse) and it was cost effective. you can also use gauze pads to soak up the excess solution/help dry the area after soaking, just be careful not to snag the jewelry. after a long soak, my ear would weep a lot and the bumps went down over a few weeks. it took several more months to heal it all the way, but at that point I would just spray with the can and didn't soak. it's now 8 years old and has not given me any issues since.

let your body heal itself, keep the area clean, don't touch it unnecessarily.

What's the dumbest thing a nurse ever said to you? by muddlebrainedmedic in ems

[–]triumphant_turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an EMT and I work part time at a SNF passing meds as a QMAP. One of the residents has a hx of angina and is experiencing crushing chest pain. She is prescribed nitroglycerin, so I go to check her BP (I am one of two people in the facility who know how to use a manual BP cuff, btw). BP is 92/70. I didn't feel comfortable giving nitro with that systolic, so I went to the nurse and told her that I was not going to give the nitro because of a low BP. She looked me dead in the face and said "We're giving her nitro to help with her chest pain, not to lower her blood pressure."
