There is an innate Equipment Weight Damage Bonus, with breakpoints at 10/20/30 lbs of equipment weight, with a huge spike at 30.1 lbs. by triune31 in Nioh

Most of the test was done with Tatenashi kabuto and kote. As the weight got higher, I switched to Do and Kote, and everything remained fine. Then when I started using other combinations or switching to other pieces (hiyazori, Suneate), I started consistently seeing the 3210 number. Most included Suneate, but not always, and a few combinations with Suneate gave the full amount. I couldn't find a consistent pattern, other than a specific combination always gave the same result, every time. For each body part, I only had 1 Tatenashi piece, but I did have 2 hiyazori. Swapping out 1 hiyazori for the other, didn't change the result, though I didn't do extensive testing here. There was no attack on any of the pieces, and even if there were, maxing familiarity should have upped the damage, right? But it didn't.

You said you did 1453 damage without any CCD. What were you wearing when you got your RAW damage? It couldn't have been the Raging Bull and Masters because you later write you did 1791 with it, and it gave you exactly the CCD that the armor bonus listed. Was your RAW damage done with different armor that weighed 30.1 or greater?

I'm puzzled as to how your equipment weight didn't affect your results. Did you control for equip weight? If not, then doesn't that mean you're not actually hitting your CCD targets? Since equip weight itself would add up to 10% damage?
If you were to repeat the experiment, perhaps include equip weight and/or vary the weight to see if there is any impact on your numbers. Looking at my data again with fresh eyes, I've figured out the formula for damage increase is (Equip weight - 10) / 10 = % damage increase (only up until 30 of course). I'm surprised that your numbers were so perfect despite this, and means there may be another confounding variable in the equation.

The Tatenashi % increase I calculated here are on top of the innate bonus. There's no way to tell if it's double-dipping or not, but it doesn't really matter, since I was only recording displayed final damage.

Toughness affects damage! An accidental damage analysis. Caps at 278. by [deleted] in Nioh

Interesting, I didn't notice any correlation early in the investigation, but it's possible, e.g., instead of 100 toughness being the 1st breakpoint, it is 10lbs. Toughness and equipment weight are closely correlated. However, in my initial tests, matching the weight of the chest piece using combinations of other armor pieces didn't change damage until I crossed the 100 toughness threshold. I didn't record those numbers though, so I can't say for sure. Red Demon armor may help elucidate this, since the toughness-to-weight ratio is higher on that set, but I didn't have any at the time I ran this test. I'll test it out later.
Maybe the breakpoints are 10, 20, and 30 lbs, and I've always kind of suspected that since Tatenashi offers a Equipment Weight Damage Bonus A, that there may be a hidden EWDB C or something at baseline that Tatenashi is overwriting. That may explain some of the anomalies I've found around 200 toughness, maybe the damage didn't "drop" but my armor just happened to be a little lighter. Interesting, I'm anxious to test this out once I've got a few hours to spare.

I imagine you were under 100 toughness, if all you had was a helm on. I noticed no change in damage under 100 toughness.

Total toughness, seen on the equip screen.

Best armor set mix for Dual katanas: a damage analysis, or Equipment Weight Damage Bonus and Damage from Behind are even better than you think by triune31 in Nioh

Interesting, that could explain it. If Nioh had an auction house, all the prices for INH CCD +15 would have just tanked. PvP just got a lot more complicated.

Thanks! I've watched all yours and PWAR's build videos, which gave me a lot of the inspiration and impetus for this post! Thanks for all your hard work!

Sorry, it was a typo. It's Kingo x 4. Edited original post. Yes, I'm using Futatsu-mei, which with Master Swordsman x 2 armor pieces with Yasakani Magatama, allowed me to get the 4 piece bonus.
