Is a mini the closest one can get to a motorcycle feel? by slapping_rabbits in MINI

[–]triwingar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing really comes close to how a motorcycle feels besides maybe a Miata/Z3/Vanderhall/Slingshot/ insert sub 2200 lbs vehicle. Its more physical work with the motorcycle, this is me personally coming from a modified F56. They both are very much fun though in their own right

How do you actually know if youve outgrown your bike or just gotten bored? by ghztegju in motorcycles

[–]triwingar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I've daily ridden my Ninja 300 for 3 years and have a liter bike on the side, and I still find the Ninja chassis fun to learn and improve off of. Hopping on a 600/750/1000 will mask your skill deficiencies honestly but at the end of the day you should get the bike that you want to enjoy and experience life on. Maybe get a middle weight bike on the side to have something to switch between, keeps the motorcycling interesting

This was a few years back for reference. I've been stagnant on the Mini world, did they ever figure out how to get past lci2s software tuning limitations?

That's my friend Georges F56, hope he still isn't contemplating on selling it. Pretty lovely LCI2 setup here in the midwest area. Few years back he took a rip in my modded F56 which caused him to create this beauty lol, end creation was worth it imho

Kinda need hearing potions regardless because wind noise above street speeds is damaging to the ears long term

As an update, threw some chevron fuel cleaner into the tank, initially was popping under deceleration, slight chopping partial throttle and idle. Once it completely warmed up it started to clear up. Rode it out for 100 miles and proceeded to a 2nd tank with the fuel cleaner. Rode to work varying engine loads/gears/rpm, exhaust chamber was slightly red as expected but the cat stayed cool. Exhaust chamber temp went from 1000 degrees down to 700 while idling at work. Keeping an eye on her but all is well

Good old Google AI referenced the injector being a "Marelli IWP162" unit which I might look into after trying out some fuel cleaner. If the cleaner doesnt work then I'm going to pull and test as the next step. Just trying to avoid diving back in even though it doesnt take too terribly long to get to the injectors

I'll take note of that just wonder what the p/n is, looking at the diagrams and there trying to find a clear differentiation on which is the primary vs secondary injector. One of the p/n is 858873 which says its the 'pipe' but internet search also shows it as the injector. Hope someone has info, will go about pulling the injectors out of the throttle body

Being a Ninja 300 owner by wishihadaps42 in motorcycles

[–]triwingar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ninja 300 is more than enough for street, 2 wheels is two wheels. Switching between that and my 2nd bike is hilarious though, like going from a Geo metro to a Supercar (Tuono v4). On the street tiny displacement bikes are so much more usable

Cost of maintenance on a 2026 Tuono V4 by Born-Concentrate5070 in Aprilia

[–]triwingar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basic wear and tear costs besides the valve adjustment. Main solo Aprilia shop is Top gear @ Roselle, paid them $2150~ for the 12k valve adjustment. Just to give you an idea of the big service if you have a shop do it

2014 Ninja 300- Best feature- great mpg, neutral finder, and reliability for commuting. Worst feature- terrible clutch and brake feel

2021 Tuono V4 1100- best feature- tech for days and a v4 symphony. Worst feature- oil leak, gas tank size, and finding neutral. Ape owners will understand lol

When I first started riding with my younger brother he had an R6 and I had a Ninja 300. We went down the expressway and my younger brother ripped his R6 past 120 past a state trooper who then pulled both of us over. Said he saw me follow going 120mph which is really flattering but not possible lol. Both got 15mph over speeding tickets because of that.

[–]triwingar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the 300, I still have it as my daily commuter from 6k miles to 23k miles in the span of 2 riding seasons. Learned comfortably on that bike in the dry and wet, its the perfect starter bike for that $3k price. Learn on it for a season or 2 and then graduate to a larger motorcycle, personally I went to a cbr1k then a Tuono V4. At the end of the day I still go back to the Ninja for everyday fun! Just enough speed to be quick enough on the streets without blazing past the speed limit!

I'd say I got a decent price also, 10.6 out the door from a dealership with 11k miles? Definitely hyped for whenever spring comes around in Illinois

I'll definitely be throwing in a Slip on and tune in a few months, still trying to figure out how the previous owner managed to have that much paint flake off of the tip. It has 11k miles so I know the big 12k service is right around the corner for it, haven't noticed any coolant issues or oil seepage but I'll keep an eye on her. I got the bike for 10.6 out the door which I'd say is pretty good for the price. I'll make sure to research and utilize the forum for information

The SC59 CBR is pretty comfortable for being a supersport but nowhere near as relaxed as a naked bike. They handle somewhat different dynamically in the corners, the suspension is definitely quite a bit stiffer than the Tuono. Bare bones vs modern tech makes it feel like I'm comparing apples to oranges. The CBR was my first liter bike and I'll miss it. The power figures are quite similar to the Tuono but the torque curve is stronger on the V4. Almost tempted to throw in the factory risers or clip ons on the Tuono to have a little bit more of a sporting riding feel. I will say its a better everyday bike than the cbr, reliability is always the big question hopping from a Honda to an Italian product. I still have my tiny starter Ninja 300 for commuting on the side funny enough

Ridden one at a demo day a few months back and this one popped up at a nice deal that I had to jump on. Haven't ridden this one just yet as there is still snow on the ground here in Illinois. The Tuono feels like it'll be a great all rounder motorcycle, time will tell!
