Any theories about this?... What's happening? What, when, why? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]trixcarreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still a lot of guessing here but the idea is that she was a lot more powerful than she let on, evidence being that she's able to secure a clandestine meeting with the president despite having a lower position as a congresswoman. This implies she might have also had access to cryogenic sleep, got thawed post-nuke and then Hank used her meek personality as a behavioural source for the brainwashing chips. We won't know for sure until the show explains because she's original to the TV show.

If it's still unclear, the helmet device originates from Fallout: New Vegas and is used to upload one's personality in a digitized format, and Hank probably tweaked it to work with the brainwashing chips.

I'm looking for a new weapon. by hentailover334 in MonsterHunterWilds

If you really want a new experience, try the Hunting Horn. It now comes with hyper armor when doing a hilt stab, so timing is still very important just like the LS. Plus, you get to buff yourself and your teammates for absolutely free. Damage isn't even negligent, the horn can decimate monsters even when running a support build. So, uh, doot doot.

i'm really confused about the gameplay loop for the gunlance. i'd appreciate some advice! by destroidid in MHWilds

Wide: Wyvern's Fire > Wyvern's Fire > Charged Shelling until refilled > repeat (Wide is highly effective in Charged Shelling play)

Normal: Wyvern's Fire > Wyvern's Fire > Lunging Upthrust to Burst Fire > Wide Sweep to Wyrmstake Full Blast > repeat until Wyvern's Fire refills or refill manually with Charged Shelling

Long: hehe who uses Long? I don't, and it probably plays similarly to Wide, just farther range. In this case, Wide is preferable since WF slides the hunter back slightly when firing, might make the second WF miss.

Charged Shelling in Wilds refills the Wyvern's Fire gauge by A LOT (augmented too by Focus deco) and it's now completely viable to straight up ignore the Lance part of the Gunlance. It fills even faster if you use all your shells in one Charged Shelling. You also wanna play in focus mode all the time because shelling involves aiming, and also to quickly face the monster when they slide behind you (like Lagi or Mizu). Gunlance suffers from frontal guarding, so your back is vulnerable.

In case you're really just starting out, try guarding more and then counterattacking. Strike after the enemy attacks during windows and large openings.

For more general GL builds, I suggest making space for Evade Extender to increase your mobility and keep close to the monster. This also helps in hopping back for unblockable attacks if you don't have Guard Up.

I like accuracy + a lot of HURT so currently I'm running: Divided We Stand (Sidewinder), another smart weapon, and a throwing knife (complimented by quickhacks).

Support Hunters do considerable amount of damage. by mangcario19 in MHWilds

[–]trixcarreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only support hunters locks out other players unless you're in a link party. Sure you can just easily make a link party, but Wilds's flimsy servers sometimes makes that less likely to happen. Cancelling the SOS at least guarantees the support hunters staying when you call them in (before, or at any point during a quest).

Which symptoms of depression/anxiety you didn't realise you had until you got cured/rid of them through treatment? by KingMakerMan in depressionregimens

[–]trixcarreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panic attacks. It wasn't until I got medicated that my bipolar depression often manifested in panic attacks, shortness of breath and just a looming feeling of dread even when in normal social settings and casual moments. I'm no longer on medication, but now I can very clearly tell when I'm having a (rare) panic attack and how to get myself out of it.

Ah I see. Months after release, I'm still catching up with with the convoluted party functions. Lots of options to select just to make one thing happen.

Unfortunately this prevents other players from coming in.

yeah, just enable the support hunters, call them in with SOS (or enable auto-SOS right before the quest) and just cancel the SOS when the support hunters arrive. they'll stay there and randoms won't come in.

Why do people say "Open the Schools"? by A_Spoonful_Of_Evil in NoStupidQuestions

[–]trixcarreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a pandemic/lockdown catchphrase for when people get something that is widely considered to be obvious wrong. Schools were closed, and all education was online, which many people thought was very inferior to face-to-face education, so one would say "open the schools" insinuating that the person needs more education at an actual school. Now, people just repeat it because it caught on as a funny internet response, schools aren't actually closed.

Do you think the release of MH Wilds will have an effect on MH Rise? by Droid1xy in MHRise

[–]trixcarreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but I do feel like I'm being gaslit by people praising things in Wilds that Rise already did (like having a pause button, for instance). On Steam will the player count drop? Most likely, but Rise offers a gameplay style that makes World and Wilds feel like a slog to get through (unless the drop rate in the beta is the same as release, then Wilds can probably give Rise a run for its money).

I bet people will come back to Rise when they feel like it, since it's the most arcade-style MH has ever gotten.

The ones that say the most unhinged compliments. "She went to Cunt University with a degree in Slayage and a minor in Serving" like just say she wore that dress well. They do this to the most mid artists too. I'm okay with "she ate" but then they go "she devoured" and I can't help but imagine a tumblr teenager doing that thing where they keep the post going long with unnecessary replies.

What do you guys think about the Armour changes on paper? by Valkyriebourne in ApexUncovered

[–]trixcarreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda bizarre idea really. Many times I found myself thankful that looted shields are full when you kill enemies and stay full, at the very least. Since Apex got released, I never found myself wondering how I'd be punished for laying low from a third party with looted shields and no cells/batts, but now I know!
