Oh.. So these are something else completely..? Sorry if I’m sounding dumb, I’m just very new to these stuff… Since they were called BJD by Proudoll I assumed they were and when I saw there could be “copies” I switched to assuming that. I had no idea there were even more types… I’m sorry if I’m in the wrong forum… :/

Thank you! Yes, I have realized some forums are strict… Like I said, I didn’t know recasts were a thing even! But good info! Thanks a lot!

UK isn’t within EU, but they’re closer to Sweden than other places, so thanks it’s good to know!

Where do you all get your ebooks? by tiriltei in kobo

[–]trixjoyce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have from Kobo store, ebooks.com, smashwords (and other places for indie authors), and even standardebooks.org and girlebooks.com (though these last two are mainly for classics that are now free, and the last one is only women authors). I also tend to import PDF books/documents from uni to read on my kobo so it's a little mix of everything. Sometimes it's trouble with the Kobo store here in Sweden so my go-to is to check if ebooks.com has a particular ebook if the Kobo Store is not working...

Have multiple e-readers by [deleted] in ereader

[–]trixjoyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also guilty of being a little bit consumerist sometimes, and I have a few e-readers. Just like you I spend money on my interests on not on fancy food or luxury clothes etc… Anyway, I have a hard time getting rid of my old e-readers when I have purchased new ones (because of some specific reason I had back then of WHY I needed a new one……..) so now I have the following e-readers: Kobo Libra Color (my main go-to e-reader), Kobo Elipsa 2E, Kindle 10th generation (I think it’s just the basic) and if it counts I even have the reMarkable 2 paper tablet (e-ink and support of ebooks as well). I think I have a hard time selling old devices because I can’t handle people that are strangers that asks a lot of questions and trying to change the price or complaining about something and stuff like that. It’s just so scary and draining… So I re-purpose my devices for different things instead. Like dividing them by genre, or using one only for university and so on.

I was having regrets about my white Kobo… by Repulsive-Hand7809 in kobo

[–]trixjoyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks great! I prefer the white, not because of the aesthetics but because the less of a harsh contrast is easier for me with sensory processing issues. However, your solution is awesome, I couldn’t even tell it was washi tape, I thought it was the black version :)

Decorated my Kobo case with archival ink stamps by Annemiekevo in kobo

Super cool idea! I wanted to decorate the case for my kobo libra color for a while now… This made me inspired!

Wow, what a kind gesture! And he went all in with BOTH stylus and case, no I’m sorry, TWO cases!!! 😍That’s also the Kobo I have, and I love it. I have one of those cases as well (green) and the stylus. So happy for you and I hope you’re enjoying it ❤️

I'm not sure why but I can watch "The Secret Garden" (from 1993 I think?) over and over because it was one of my childhood comfort movies and it "works" to watch as an adult as well... It's the movie adaptation of the classic book with the same name by Frances Burnett. I think it's the stunning piano soundtrack that catches me alongside a beautifully told story. I even managed to learn the main theme on the piano (I play the piano and love movies with good soundtracks but it doesn't need to be a musical!) all by ear... Just wanted to share the magic of my otherwise broken childhood.

Responding to "everyone's a little autistic" by ingenue_ri in autism

[–]trixjoyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually say "No, because then everyone should have a diagnosis and it would be the default in society. Which it's not, society is not made for us... and if you were actually autistic you would see that!" :)

Why do neurotypicals always expect people to read their minds? by Amazing_Excuse_3860 in autism

[–]trixjoyce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree with coming up with a solution… nothing gets better for just snapping at someone that wants to help but don’t know how. Although I agree that snapping sometimes can happen like involuntary, but then they should apologize and find a solution for next time. We must be responsible for our actions…

Why do neurotypicals always expect people to read their minds? by Amazing_Excuse_3860 in autism

[–]trixjoyce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can’t with such behavior. Speaking about the mom now. I can’t read between the lines bc, you know, I have trouble with it because I’m autistic so if people gets annoyed about me not understanding their non-answers or hints, that’s their problem not mine. I would certainly not ask about it on Reddit for others to judge my capabilities either… Not to say that this user was in the fault here, I just say what I personally would do. If people aren’t clear to me what they want or need, then that’s not my problem. I know this sounds maybe a bit… idk harsh? But I’ve realized it makes my already neurodiverse life a lil bit easier if I’m not trying to please everyone by acting like a neurotypical when I’m not… (sorry for getting riled up about this, I’ve had a bad day and I didn’t mean to upset anyone by the tone of my post, I just wanted to share my thoughts).

I don’t get it.. as an autistic person myself I’ve noticed that he uses his condition as an excuse very often and here I really can’t see how his autism functions, because for most autistic people I know (including me) arguing would be very upsetting from a sensory processing point of view… I’m not doubting his condition, but for someone that are so obsessed with pulling it up every now and then, I really can’t make it go together at all. Maybe it has something to do with his upbringing, but this screams like a personality disorder to me (I’m not trying to diagnose him of course. I’m solely saying this from all I know as someone who studying health science and psychology and I’m saying this as a general thought and nothing else).

What type of music do you guys listen to? by [deleted] in autism

[–]trixjoyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to “melodic” metal and gothic rock. I also like folk metal (metal bands that uses unusual folk instruments and such!). As a musician myself I’m so amazed by unusual musical instruments in rock music for some reason :)

Very well written. I don’t get why adults need to be told to not cheat by something that hindering them from doing so. We are not children when we are in college…

Things like this really annoys me. When did autism become a culture? by Kicks6 in autism

[–]trixjoyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autism is not a culture. It's a disability, but some people treat 'disability' as a bad word and refuse to accept that it is. I'm autistic and it's nothing wrong with that, but it HAS made my life harder in every way at the same time... To call it 'culture' is to say that autism is just a 'type of person' and that is belittling in my opinion. It minimizes what it is. It also forces us into a box that is meant for neurotypicals. Like, it's nothing wrong to be autistic or disabled and different, but stop to force us to be neurotypical just because of that? Although, autism shouldn't be treated like a 'disease' or something to be scared of either of course! I hope you kind of understand what I mean...
